'Hounds of Love'

Mainly for 'The Ninth Wave' but 'Running up that Hill' and 'Cloudbusting' are brilliant too. I also love 'Never For Ever'. It's not an album that gets much attention when Kate Bush is discussed, but it has a great atmosphere and combines experimentation with great songs. 'Egypt' is a classic. A great headphones track..nice and loud!

BTW, shouldn't this be on the Prog Polls page? Kate Bush is in the archives, and I've always taken 'General Music discussions' to be for non prog or prog related artists..

Actually, this should be in the Proto-Prog and Prog-Related Lounge, since discussions on the bands and artist in those two categories have to be kept separated from the 'real' prog ones, lest they pollute the prog sectionsTongue...

Hounds of Love moved me the most.  I do like them all, though the first two never really caught on with me.  Aerial was a really nice comeback album.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Me too, cept I'd rank mine a hair different:
 
1. Kick (What a perfect debut.)
2. Never For Ever (Her most "Kate" album)
3. Lionheart (The Kick, part 2)
4. Hounds (the great long track)
5. Dreaming (the weird cousin.)
 
The other three are so far below the quality of the first 5 (IMO) that I almost never play them.

'Lionheart' doesn't do much for me either, although I do like the debut. Apparently Kate Bush isn't keen on 'Lionheart' either. EMI wanted a second album out as soon as possible, so they used alot of tracks that were apparently rejected for 'The Kick Inside'

I know Hounds of Love is usually regarded as her masterpiece but Aerial really hits the spot for me.

The Dreaming has worked best for me so far. Hounds of Love could be great with better sound. 80s sounds are fine with lightweight pop, but more ambitious stuff usually suffers from them.

"The dreaming" marks a true transition in KB's career, it's her most acclaimed album in the prog circles. She experiences a lot with her vocals, something that she never renewed again on following albums. Both musically, and vocally, it's a departure from her conventional art-pop aesthetics.

I think The Dreaming is her best. But the debut too - how many people could have written that in their mid-to-late teens? It's disconcertingly good.

The Dreaming without a doubt, Hounds of Love is a good second. the others are either too poppy or just not weird/dark enough

I enjoy Never for Ever, The Sensual World, and Aerial from her, but I'd have to pick Aerial as my favorite.

Having heard two albums, these being hounds of love and Aerial, i say that Hounds of love is a great album, but Aerial is a masterpiece. Of course, some of it may have to do with the 80's sound of Hounds, but Aerial is a double album filled to the brim with beautiful, magical, music.  The packaging does it's part as well, the fantastic sleeve along with the mystical pictures of birds in the booklet. Very prog... : )
