New Trolls are one of the most definitive of the prog bands that I've ever heard.   They have the classical sensibilities of ELP, lineup changes worthy of Yes, and an ability to sell out to cheezy pop to prolong their career that rivals Genesis.

But they also put out some REALLY good music, so show some love!

As much as I fawn over Italian bands the Trolls are like a root-canal for me to take.  The week i was reviewing their albums was the least fun I ever had at PA.  I'm not sure why...just taste I guess.  I certainly acknowledge they have talents, they just don't work for me.  Ibis was a hair better to me.

UT was the only Trolls album I could handle keeping, the rest have left the buildingWink

This is all the love for an archetypical ISP band???  How sad....

I haven't been so sad since I put up a post praising the first Flash album.

Well, I do love New Trolls in all their suits: classic band, Atomic System, Ibis and the newest Concerto Grosso III. The band it's somehow underestimated by many colleagues and I think this may due to the peculiar singing and the massive use of english lyrics.

We should not forget that they spread the seeds to the italian prog scene with other pivotal bands such as Osanna and Le Orme. In 1970-1971 nor PFM neither BMS had released their dedut.

New Trolls is one of the first Italian bands i knew and enjoyed, since then i can say that they are also one of my favourites. Concerto Grosso 1 e 2 are essential to my collection and both are albums that i deeply love.

Despite they also turned into a poppish sound in the 80s, i found some of that songs enjoyable.

This is the only prog band i can say i have seen 3 times in concert, tha last of them was at the BajaProg where they performed mainly songs from the 3 Concerto Grosso albums, but with an orchestra, it was a memorable show!!
