I've just now seen footage of Genesis' performance of Supper's Ready way back in '72 (or was it it '73?).  Anyways, my question is, was that Gabriel's real hair, the long, smooth black hair?  More importantly, why is his upper forehead bare, was it shaved or is the whole thing just a wig?  Man, he was skinny!

The most amazing thing about Gabriel is his singing voice.  That hoarse, raspy voice is absolutely unique and just does not fit his look or his age back then, there's also no hint of it when he speaks normally.

It was his real (Rael?) hair but legend states that he needed to shave a canal in order to adjust the various masks used (and there were many) . Later , when solo touring for his second album, he was bald because I had read that his then wife had an affair and felt bad about, so she told him and she chopped her hair off. Peter had shaved his head out of forgiveness, by this time the famed Genesis masks were a thing of the past.
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

I've read that the "reverse mohican" was an early attempt to shock people and get a reaction, something that developed into the famous costumes. And yes, it was his real hair.
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005
