Considering the recent Miles Davis debate (x number of jazzfusion albums out of y total albums >PA inclusion. Here's a realization that came to me :
John Lennon's first 3 albums are considered avant-garde. Should he, and hey, Yoko, as they were a duo; be considered for inclusion. And even Plastic Ono Band & imagine had some Psych based moments, not to mention the jam with Zappa & the Mothers on Sometime in New York ...

"Here I am talking to some of the smartest people in the world and I didn't even notice,” Lieutenant Columbo, episode The Bye-Bye Sky-High I.Q. Murder Case.

This time I can't agree DB. I don't think lennon's solo output has much to do with prog... It may be interesting rock, but not prog I think, not even proto. I think that The Beatles were magical together; separated, each one had only a few real moments of shine... but never breally prog.

A shot at prog-related maybe. But not in my view.

I understand where you're coming from. But to me, though his early stuff may be adventurous and "avant-garde," I think he as a solo artist has so little in common with any progressive rock subgenre on this site that it would be odd to accept him.

I assume you're including Life with the Lions and the Wedding Album amongst his first 3 albums. They're undoubtedly avant-garde but I don't think they have much to do with prog. His original solo album was very stark and quite a long way from prog.

The sarcasm is literally globulating out of my monitor...

If anyone has heard the LPs chopper mentions or 'Two Virgins' then Mr Happy-Go-Lucky Lennons' inclusion is the proverbial no-brainer.

Then we can add Yoko Ono (of all the beautiful women on this island how the hell he picks the beaten-with-an-ugly-stick option I'll never know). Her first two LPs are astonishing. After that it is all downhill.

And 'Fly' must be one of the most disturbing films I ever saw!

I don't think his avant-garde stuff is related to prog and there is a difference between prog avant-garde and plain avant-garde, so I no for this inclusion.
