Topic: Sigur Ros vs. Close to the EdgePosted: June 04 2008 at 15:30 |

the final showdowm one's a band full of people too shy to finish their song titles and who haven't so much popularised boredom as refined the attempts of previous bands to conjure it. the other is an album with three songs on it with an ugly green gradient for a cover Edited by laplace - June 04 2008 at 15:31 |

I am a big post-rock fan but really struggle with Sigur Ros - can't stand them.
Yes all the way. |

You really stimulate the forum, don't you?
Ok, fine... Let's vote anyway... The album beats the band... and any album by the band that released that album would beat any album by the band whose name is that of that band... because that album is great and the band that released it is very good, and the band on the other side is atrocious and any album released by it may be...
The era of enlightment has begun...

Close to the edge of boredom - one of the phrases that the critics used to describe Tales From Topographic Oceans
This poll gave this phrase a new meaning

forum AGITATOR "these two widlely-loved things both suck. which sucks less?" lappy stirs up trouble again...
So I'll throw in my vote for Sigur Ros. They have been one of a very few bands to redefine progressive music in the new millenium, at least in quasi-mainstream consciousness. I don't really think they're boring at all. I almost think they're too listener-friendly at times.
CTTE is a prime example of old-skool symphonic rock, but lets be honest, only one side of that record is any good.

Well, since compact discs are usually one sided, I agree. |

I ain't Sigur's fan, but everything about them is more appealing to my taste than 37 overrated minutes of blatant show-off

Just started to listen to Sigur Ros...not that they would beat 'Close to the Edge'. Just trying to make a conversation outside of ''Close to the Edge' is the best'.

Close to the Edge was one of the albums that got me into the genre of progressive rock.

I vote Sigur Ros for the music videos, particularly Glosoli. CLICK Beautiful. I like Sigur Ros, but Bjork beats it.
