Gigantour, the brainchild of Dave Mustaine (vocalist, guitarist) of MEGADETH.

For the populace of America:

Set to launch in late July, Gigantour is a six-week festival trek co-headlined by MEGADETH and DREAM THEATER, who'll be accompanied by FEAR FACTORY, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, and NEVERMORE. Artists for the second stage will be announced in the coming weeks.

I'm a big fan of MEGADETH, DREAM THEATER and NEVERMORE (local band from Seattle, for me at least). So, I'll definately be there!

Peace & take care

I think this is sopposed to be in another subforum

Anyways that is not Megadeth, it is Dave Mustaine and some guys who have never played on a Deth album playing Megadeth covers.

i have an opeth video from 1995 of them playing "forest of october" from the orchid album. A damn good song i must admit. It seems they couldn't get any Opeth backdrops and there was a huge background with NEVERMORE written behind their drummer so Mikael announces to the crowd "we're not nevermore!" towards the end of the song before one of the heavier riffs started. just a lil tidbit! I've never heard Nevermore, are they good? what are they like. Why is a swedish death metal band supporting a band from seattle in their early days?

I believe that Spock's Beard is going to be in that tour as well.

Meh, besides spock's beard ( which I don't like their new stuff, so I wouldn't like em there.), and Dream Theater, I basically hate all these other bands. I think I'll pass.

Spock's Beard?  Meh... I hope not.  I find neo-prog to be very unremarkable.

Thin Lizzy just toured, as Thin Lizzy; pointless without Phil Lynott surely. At least Free and Freddie Mercury (whoops the other way round) haven't fallen in that trap.................

Yeah, I saw DEEP PURPLE a year ago in concert and opening for them was THIN LIZZY. I couldn't believe that they'd just go and tour even though Phil died. Nobody in that line-up was from the original band, not even Scott Gorham.

In response to MEGADETH/MOTORHEAD being "tribute" bands, I don't get that. Those are their babies. Does that mean that FRANK ZAPPA fluctuated line-ups constantly, thererfore he becomes a parody of himself, I don't think so.

Peace & take care

Hi,

OPETH was touring with NEVERMORE at the time.

NEVERMORE is a great metal band, with topical and politcal lyrics. Warrell Dane, the vocalist, has a great set of pipes (think Geoff Tate & some originality).  Jeff Loomis, they're guitarist, is incredibly gifted and is probably the most overlooked guitar shredder in the metal scene today. They're got a new album coming out soon. Plus, they're other 6 releases are great. If you're into technical metal with smart and insightful lyrics then check 'em out. I recommend getting "The Politics of Ecstasy" or their dark & emotional concept album, "Dreaming Neon Black."

I live in Olympia, WA and NEVERMORE is from Seattle, WA, so I've seen them live 3 times and I've met the band several times. Definately, one the 3 best metal bands out today.

Peace & take care

Deep Purple? Isn't that just Ritchie Blackmore and some guys doing Deep Purple covers...

Is that a guess or did you hear that from a reliable source?

This is supposed to be a tour around metal, every aspect of it. Dream theater being the prog metal, megadeth being the trash metal, dillinger escape plan bieng the punk metal. I don't se spock's beard on it, neither Porcupine tree.
