The first album by Unifaun (formerly "Sylvan & Bonamici") was released on Friday, 27th June. The band's music is original, but very much in the style of mid-70's Genesis. Well worth a listen, if that's your bag!

I'm desperate to get hold of the CD myself, but struggling to find an online dealer who is stocking it (preferably UK based).

If anyone has any leads, please let me know!

I receive it this Saturday from my friend Hans (owner of Progwalhalla) in order to make a review, perhaps next week it will be published on the homepage of Prog Archives, I hope...

I got a copy straight from their site (thank you, Erik!). Very Genesis-like music, around the time of Lamb Lies ... and A Trick Of The Tail. It´s interesting and melodic, it reminds me a lot of Citizen´s Cain first album, although Unifaun´s music uses more acoustic sounds than CC. If you´re a fan of Genesis (especially around the time of The Lamb...) this is highly recommended.

Hi, Erik. Unifaun is very interesting and I think they can be big (if only Citizen Cain did the same...). A review will appear on PA soon. I´m a big fan of classic Genesis and anything that sounds like them will catch my attetion. if you (or anybody else out there) know bands like this, please tell me!

Cheers

The band was added yesterday by the Symphonic Team http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=3942

Would had been added some time ago, but we asked  the band to write  a complete Bio (Most bands love to do this), something that didn't happened, but at least they allowed me to take aphoto from their site and sent me a press package by mail.

Even though they didn't impress me too much because of the strong Phil Collins resemblance and the derivative of their work, I know many will like them

Tarcisio, I am looking forward to your review about Unifaun, in my review I have emphasized that despite their very obvious 77-80 Genesis hints they have succeeded to make very tasteful arrangements with a wonderful guitar - and keyboard colouring, I am very curious to their musical development.

Hi, Erik:

My review was posted yeaterday. I agree with you. I liked the CD and I´m hoping to see what the furture awaits. As a big fan of early Genesis I´m really glad to see that their music is inspiring so many great musicians.

Cheers

Hi Tarciso, I agree partially with you, I find that Nad Sylvan and Bonamici are OUTSTANDING musicians, they play their instruments with great skills, but the album didn't impessed me.

A I said in my review, I would love to see them playing original stuff, I'm sure they have an own sound that would be more rewarding.

HI, Ivan:

I agree with you. I was quite impressed by their musicanship too.Sometimes they sounded exactly like Genensis, and this is no small feat, since we all know how skilled all Genesis members were, even at early stage. I have big expectations for Unifaun. I think they can be big if they find their own way and write good songs, Everybody starts copying someone. I remember when Marillion came out that they were discarded by critics as Genesis clones. They did resemble them, the influence was obvious. But Marillion overcame that easily, creating their unique style. I hope Unifaun does something like that soon.

Best regards

I feel I have to explain a bit. Of course we could have done something completely different in the prog area.
If you listen to some of my solo efforts like "McNamara´s son" which is a mix of prog and funk/soul
you will hear a completely different caracter on the whole.

Bon and I happened to glue because of the Genesis vibe, and so we took it from there -
basically to see where we would end up. The album would never had seen the light of day
if it were´nt for constant demands from a growing fan base. So I´d like to see the whole
project as a flirt, a homage and a tribute to one of the most influential bands of all time.

Mind you, a record like this haven´t really been produced in a very long time by Genesis
or any other band for that matter. To some people it might just be the feeling of "coming home"
when listening to it. At least to us it is! But then again, we are both pushing 50, so it must be an age thing!
:)

Take care out there!
Best regards,
Nad
