Well certainly their more closely related to Zs because they share members, but the compositional structure reminds me slightly of Kayo Dot.

Like with Arms by Zs, I feel the great stuff is a bit bogged down by some weaker stuff, but that might just be me.

Anybody who likes Zs and Extra Life should check out the CDs Predator or Prey by Larval and Childish Delusions by Bill Brovold (composer for Larval).  They explore similar rhythmic areas.

I prefer Childish Delusions but allmusicguide prefers Predator or Prey, so take your pick.  Childish Delusions is about half solo Brovold and about half features Larval.

I don't know.  Extra Life has this punk energy that Kayo Dot doesn't... as does Zs.  I would compared Extra Life more along the lines to, other than Zs, ...maybe no one.  They don't really have any solid bands to compare their music to.  Kayo Dot works with more layers and atmosphere, while Extra Life features more hypnotic rhythm-based songwriting.

^ Yeah thats what I thought when I checked them out.

Ordered the album based on what's on their myspace. Cool stuff.

Very cool, I like their music (ordered the album).
I also hear some of the two bands Aaron mentions.
If Time Of Orchids went in one way when influenced, among others, by Kayo Dot, Extra Life goes into a different and exciting way.

Hope the ZART are having a look at this and add them.

By the way, don't the vocals remind you of Morrisey?

It's good.  But I actually would compare them more to Zs than to Kayo Dot as both Zs and Extra Life's work are very dependent on unique rhythms and their minimalistic repetitions.

This Time is my favorite song from it.

Zs meets Kayo Dot.

It's a project by the same guy who runs Zs, Charlie Looker.

And it's awesome.
