other way around for me, that is to say I prefer DFA's complex fusion over DeM's hard symph/neo

This is a very tough callm on here, because of the three real studio albums (one is a demo, the other a live), they're all quite good.
I have a slight prefereance for Lavori, but they'reall fime.

Love DFA. To me they are a more accessible Deux Ex Machina who I admire as well. But DFA have more melody in their songs and they resonate with me more each time I hear them. D E Machina don't do that for me.

I've only heard 4th so far, so it has to be that one. A very good album, and great to see music like that still being made!

DFA 4th is the only one I have heard so far. Great band. How did I overlook them so long?

I haven't heard the "4th" album yet, but I'll vote for "Duty Free Area" because I love the eclectic approach (combining space-rock and ounces of heavy prog) to jazz-prog, its is richer than the already amazing debut album.
Kind regards.

I have a soft spot for Lavori in Corso . There is this long spacey bass fueled ride that is simply marvelous which I prefer to their more complex stuff where they have a tendency to really lay it on in terms of chops. Haven't heard the new yet though.

Do not fret, nothing to do with that (and I love Pantera)

Excellent band, their 4th album has not been listened to my ears yet, but i hope to do it soon.
For starters, Lavori in Corso is a great option because if you like it, then you will love the others as well.
Actually Trip on Metro is also unknown to me, but the 3 i know are all worth listening, either studio or the Work in Progress Live, will please you.

I've yet to listen to 4th, but I've read good reviews and comments about it, as you say.
But I will; it's on my to get list in my future purchase.
