Topic: John Zorn - Take 3 Posted: July 29 2008 at 16:57 |
Take 1: now called delete me Take 2: service unavailable gaaaaaaaaah
Take 3:
No Naked City because it would easily win. Spillane for me. What energy. The Bribe is great as well (one of the few 75+ minute albums that isn't too long).

I knew this had to be your post, Pnoom!, when I first glanced at it. So, why do you hate John Zorn so much?
On second thought, don't answer that, it's a trick question, and service will be unavailable.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I'll just take a short cut and go with Six Litanies, I haven't heard many of those, but if they're listed here I'll take your word for it, I'll check em all out in due time

The Big Gundown News for Lulu Execution Ground
probably out of those three; from memory. I'd struggle to narrow it down any further as it's been a year or so since I've listened to them.

I really need to get into The Big Gundown.
I'm listening to The Bribe right now and it's amazing. But not as good as Spillane. For me:
1. Spillane 2. The Bribe 3. The Circle Maker 4. Six Litanies for Heliogabalus 5. Masada - Live in Sevilla 2000
(of the ones I listed, Naked City is #1 otherwise obviously).
I will relisten to The Big Gundown later today. Along with IAO and maybe Astronome.

Astronome is my favourite of the Moonchild/Astronome/6 Litanies albums. The Painkiller 50th Birthday album with Mike Patton as guest vocalist is pretty amazing as well.

U FURGOT NEKID CITY!
After Naked City, it's close between Heliogabalus and Execution Ground. I'll go with Execution Ground because I've been in a spacey mood all day.
