I second the motion : Detroit '71 is essential stuff, great sound and performance. I prefer Marquee '71 (just as good) but, really, you can't go wrong here.

I got some extra money from my boss today and went to the store after work. I had already picked some other albums and was heading towards the checkout when I stumbled upon this... I couldn't resist (and those other CDs went back to where they had come from)! Big smile

I actually prefer Detroit. Which isn't a knock against The Marquee, but Detroit presses all the right buttons (despite the tape issues).

Great thanks.

I was (kinda) hoping Metamorphosis made the cut, but since it didn't I'll pass. Tongue

Just bought this album in digital form , Blackburn Hall - (Self Titled) (2014)

http://blackburnhall.bandcamp.com/album/self-titled

I discovered the band by looking up Pete Hall who was a member of "A Northern Chorus", which I'm a fan of. But this is a debut album that was released last year. They don't seem to have much promotion for the album, they seem to be very unknown. The second time I streamed it, I thought "wow!". Not as shoegazy and slow as A Northern Chorus, more towards alt-rock, but still very atmospheric, great arrangements, melodies, harmonies. Very cool.

And I also booked a ticket for SBB gig on 22nd April. The whole original line-up with Jerzy Piotrowski on drums who came back to the band after more than 20 years!! And they will play in Progresja Music Zone which is just some 10 minutes walk from where I live!
