The Forma is really nice Thumbs Up.  The reviews I read in respectable publications never mentioned the "prog" word, because I think these are some hip electronic musicians, but with that album cover I think they are telling us something???  As prog as my dog, and my dog has a silver cape.

The WorldService Project is one of my favourite recent British prog jazz releases and they are also a killer live band.  Until I saw them I had literally no idea what you could do with a trombone and some effects pedals.

Have to get that Sea Nymphs. I never even thought we'd hear more material from that era, so it's a gift.

I often have a bunch of albums on my wish list which are essentially shots in the dark based on reco's of others, I like to take a risk now and then, Myrrors, Forma & World Service Project are all those types of buys so I'm very happy to hear your approvals on Forma & WSP. Looking forward to getting them. I had Wayside New Releases on constant refresh when Steve told me Sea Nymphs were coming in this week. I ordered it within 3 minutes of it going up. That's how much I'm looking forward to that one.

Syd Arthur - Apricity (The British Dungen)
Van Damme Generator - Do Not Disturb (Jean Claude's forgotten nurseries)
Vangelis - Rosetta (Space? Yes please...or so I'm hoping)
Kikagaku Moyo - House In The Tall Grasses (Who knows?)
The Comet Is Coming - Channel The Spirits (Spiritual psych jazz)
Violeta De Outono - Spaces (Brazilian psych)
Sons Of Kemet - Lest We Forget What We Came Here To Do (Spiritual psych jazz)

I hope you dig the Sons of Kemet and Comet is Coming David.

Have not heard the new Goat yet, loved the first one but the second left me a bit disappointed.
Oh I'm digging it alrightCool The Comet Is Coming is equally impressive. I thank you for your outstanding jazz recs - I wish I could throw something your way along the same lines, but it is exceedingly rare that I come across modern jazz artists that really knocks me off my feet. Fire! Orchestra is the only act I can think of actually...but I gather you're already familiar with the lot. Sun Ra teams up with a flock of reed-birds.

Love the new Goat album. I think it's their best release to date - even surpassing the debut by some way. Funny how they've somehow managed to sound more psych whilst at the same time resorting to an altogether more acoustic sounding palette.

Righty, I got to get me my Goat now!

As regards the jazz recs I am very happy you liked the suggestions, the best thing about this place is if you can spread the love for something. Besides which your posts and reviews have turned me on to more stuff than I can remember Cool

I will venture just one more jazz rec for this year, for I am sworn to buy no more jazz albums until 2017. It's this:

Two Finnish shamans bringing saxes, clarinets, flutes, gralla, drums, percussion and a little chanting to a party under ancient trees.  On the back of the digipack is a little poem:

On this journey
the spirits of the forest
encounter
the gentle touch of the woodwinds.
Drums knock on the doors of
eternal beings
Do they open -
and who dares to enter?

which is a better description than I can give.  Sorry that I can't find any samples or video online (I bought this one on instinct), but if the above sounds interesting you probably wouldn't be disappointed.

I just read that Merzbow has done an album of Sun Ra remixes...but I didn't hear it yet.  2017 better come soon dammit!

I'm sold! You had me at 'the spirits of the forest'LOL Merzbow doing Sun Ra remixes? eerrrm that sounds oddly interesting yet I can't for the life of me imagine how that is going to flesh out. Will definitely be investigating.

Just checked, the whole album is up there

LOL Yeah....how exactly does one describe the sound of this?? It's good though but words fail me.

Thoughts on this one?

http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=12852

I jumped on it as soon as I saw it in my local second hand store, instantly recognizing the band name as being a notable Krautrock group. Actually the guy at the store chopped several dollars off it saying that it had been in the store for ages and no one was interested in it. So it turns out the love is for their first album, and this follow-up seems much more interested in boogie and blues sounds. The tunes are rarely more than adequate with a fairly bland female vocalist, and while, of course, the playing is sh*t-hot, it doesn't leave much of an impression on me so far.

Actually, this CD reissue has two bonus tracks, almost thirty minutes of looooong jams and improvs that seem more interesting than the main album parts!

I get the feeling it will grow on me, though...the guitars at least have a great fuzzy acid-rock dirt to them.
