I was doing a search for Fleck and found a flock of Fleck threads, but all had been stopped for new comments besides the current one going on.  Some weren't very old.  Don't know if this is a bug or not.  Is there a new policy for automatically closing inactive threads after a few months?

Not that I'm aware of, but it is possible. Perhaps M@x could confirm?

The other possibility is that they have been tidied up to keep the discussion on the topic to a single thread.

I didn't find any of the other Fleck threads that were open including the one with the most pages and a new one was opened recently.  Fortunately, that one remains open.

Speaking of tidy, there's a whole mess of Fleck threads (11) including several variations on the spelling/wording of "Bela Fleck & The Flecktones".  LOL

Yes, back on july I did a auto-close of all the thread with been inactive (no reply) for 6 month to help the server perform better.

Theses , on request , can be reopen with no problem, admins can do that.

Thanks for the tip. Big%20smile And as always for the hard work.

Hmm, anyway of putting an automatic notice at the end of a thread when its closed to that effect?  I'm afraid it may lead to lots of people starting new threads when they should restart an old one.

Or alternatively, if they are aware of a closed old one, they could add a link to it in the first post of the new thread.

How about an "open the thread" button to closed threads (which of course should only added to these automatically closed threads for inactivity) so the closed threads don't slow down the server, but can be resurrected easily by interested members)

Nice suggestion but it requires developpement / programming in the forum. We can do that easily with a new thread titled:  REOPEN CLOSED TOPICS REQUEST and post the "TID" of the requested thread to reopen and ADMINs will do the rest or create a new one and link to the new.

LOL

my guess is that thread will get closed due to inactivity also.

so we would need another thread, let's call that the "REOPEN THE REOPEN CLOSED TOPICS REQUEST"

Think Easy's idea would indeed proof to be the easiest way.
