Yeah Iīve searched long for samples and havenīt found any yet, but Iīll keep looking. I have the albums myself, but sharing them probably isnīt possible ( Or legal for that matter). Too bad if the lack of sound samples means that a very worthy band canīt be included.

Zafreth, please read my comments on the last page. Haven't heard enough music to evaluate, and from what I've heard, it sounds more psych or proto to me anyway. Note that the Psych team had it under evaluation.

The first album by Day of Phoenix, "Wide Open N Way" I consider easily "one of the best albums of all time that almost no one has heard of." I'm not saying it's in my top 10 or even top 50 albums of all time, but it IS a fantastic album that needs to be heard by a MUCH wider audience. If side one of this album doesn't blow away most of the listeners on prog archives, I'd be surprised.
And yes, it IS hard to define - it's a great mixture of psych and prog - almost as if The Grateful Dead were a prog band. The lyrics, while perhaps a bit obscure and surreal, are thankfully sung without a weird European accent and are not in broken English - that always bugs me. Usually I prefer bands sing in their native tongue unless they can really pull off English well - here they do. That said, the lyrics are not why you would get this album, it's for the absolutely fantastic and inventive music.
Seriously, this album is a MUST HEAR. I've never heard their second one which I've heard isn't in the same league.
