An Australian 'Prog' Band, just signed to Inside Out Records, and have a new 2 CD concept album 'The Garden' out.  Styled Prog/ Classical/ Classic Rock, I'd possibly best compare them to ACT, Alan Parsons Project & Kayak....

check them out:

it's quite catchy.....EmbarrassedEmbarrassed

Checking it out now, but won't have time to really listen to it or give a proper evaluation 'til later (tonight or tomorrow).  Thanks! And something that can be compared to Alan Parsons  Project is often a plus in terms of my ears' enjoyment (I hear APP in so much music -- one of my most vocalised references in evaluations.  "It has Alan Parsons Project-like qualities in...").

then again... if I had to pick one word to describe GG.. .it would catchy.. or would that be complex...  or complex catchiness.. .oh hell..

I think this one maybe for us... prog without a doubt (nice find JaredClap)  seeing best fit for us.  Catching a strong Xover vibe...  but I'm just the biggest mouth.. not the sharpest tack in the AR family.   See what you guys think for eclectic.. .sure Xover will be a great home if you all pass.

I did finish listening to it earlier.  Originally I thought it less Prog, and more Prog Related, but caught the prog vibe more as I listened on.  Not right for Eclectic in my opinion, and agree that this is one for Xover evaluation.

Hi Jared,

Since you recommended them, I will give them a try.

Cheers,

Their latest release is nice:I wouldn't say it's great but it's catchy, proggy(I sometimes think about Flower Kings or Magic Pie).It has its moments but nothing new under the sun.In its place here though.

I am listening to The Garden and really like it. I think it's neo prog.

After listening to them a lot recently, I'd definitely put them in the Eclectic category.  They use such a variety of instruments (including banjo, mandolin, lots of percussion, and woodwinds), and I would say their sound is bit similar to The Tangent.

I would throw them in with the retro proggers.  I agree with the above references to The Flower Kings, Magic Pie, and The Tangent.  Crossover works for me, but I would think that symphonic or neo would be good categories for them as well.

By the way, I added them to ProgFreak. For some reason, they weren't added there???

Chris said earlier in this thread that it had been approved for Crossover -- so it's a matter of someone stepping up to prepare the materials for addition.

I'd send it to one of the Xover guys (once the bio and pic is ready, it only takes a minute to actually add the artist -- then anyone can add the albums, of course).
