Hope folks will be around.

Possibly the last show before the long summer break - or like last year, we may take the air waves for an extra week beyond term time.

So opportunities to look back over the last 12 months and pick a few favourites discovered in that period, e.g. TRAM, Grand General, Motorpsycho, Hedwig Mollestad, Heritage Blues Orchestra, (hey Magnus) Brickhouse(!!!!). Got so peed off by a bad intrepretation of 'Celebrate' for a TV ad for a nicotine substitute pill, so disintered the original and thereby reminded Rare Earth could sound pretty good at times. New (to me) jazz discoveries in the form of Ex & Brass Unbound, plus the super band of Bob Berg etal.

Rumour has it there is unlikely to be any human broadcasting between 8 and 9pm local time tomorrow night, so will try to live broadcast  during that time but off the playlist below, including newies from Nigel Kennedy, Mark Ribot, and .. tune in and find out.

ALT2 is back for its 30th year of broadcasting from Thursday 17th October at 9pm BST. This is 2 weeks later than usual because new management changes and training new DJs in the first two weeks instead of broadcasting. There is agoodly collection of old and new collected over the last 3-4 months, of which Norwegian bands and soloists  still impress.

Also check out the alternativealternativeshow on Facebook and sign up as a friend, for suggestion of new and old bands I've enjoyed recently.

Back for the 30th year of the ALT2 Show in  various forms (including once for 5 years as Jazz Ffollies).  Next Thursday we have new discoveries (there's 'real new' and also there's 'new to me' although the band/artist may have been around for decades.....) such as Norway's  Bushman's Revenge (article in this month's Jazzwise btw), Naked Lunch (from c 1970, sounding like early Santana merged with early Chicago). Interesting fusion of Bhangra and brass jazz from Red Baraat. Polar Bear  evolved into Sons Of Kemet? And some nice remasters out from James Gang, Love, Laura Nyro. Then the weird (aka eclectic) mix of musics: Easy Star, Freaks Kitchen Jonas Hellborg and would you believe I've limited myself to 3 Scandinavian tracks.... Enjoy and don't forget to correspond during the show next Thursday from 9pm BST:

this year is good one for new releases - really heard a lot of new interesting music

David Fiuczynski played live here in my hometown last weekend

Dave Holland released true burning fusion album - as much as I can remember it's his very first as leader ever fusion release

Chick Corea did same trick - trying to return back RTF fame, far not so successfully though in my opinion

Fuze is favourite - voices some of my show jingles! Got the Corea and Holland - disappointed by the Corea  RTF tries some straight jazz solos??? Yet to hear the Holland - but it rattles up the heap after your recommendation
