Does anyone know if he'll return to music anytime soon?

Anyone have any news on this? I'm really hoping for a tour from him in the future.
I look at the world and see no understanding...

Smile Don't know about a tour, but long-term Bowie fans, especially of the Ziggy Stardust/Mick Ronson/Spiders From Mars era, should appreciate this Top of the Pops performance:

Ah, sweet nostalgia! I've always really loved this song! I still play the ziggy album very, very often -- it's perhaps my overall Bowie fave. Cool
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'

Longer period of inactivity could be a indication of yet another "change"
Witch i personally think would be great.
I find the last albums to be oki, but nothing more than that.

Another change would be great, the last 3 albums were good but they were a bit similar I think. Anyway all his albums since Outside were pretty good IMO, especially Earthling and Heathen wich are great.
All this inactivity the last years is wierd though, he never spent so much time without releasing new stuff. Has he mentioned something about working on new material or maybe retiring (I hope not!)? I remember he had some heart problems in the Reality tour and had an operation, does that have something to do with his inactivity?

I love Ziggy! One of my favourite albums ever.

Here's more news regarding David Bowie's activity :D:

Its from NME.

''A user posting under the name 'David Bowie' has left a message on social networking website Twitter saying that the star is recording new material in Berlin.

In the late '70's Bowie record three of his most popular albums - 'Low', 'Heroes' and 'Lodger' - in the city. The albums are now collectively known as his 'Berlin Trilogy'.

The Twitter post says: "Cheers from a snowy Berlin! Working on some new material!"

However, the comment is yet to be officially confirmed to actually have been written or authorised by Bowie himself.

David Bowie's last studio album was 2003's 'Reality' - a heart complaint then forced him to abandon his world tour in 2004.

In 2008, he sang backing vocals on Scarlett Johansson's album of Tom Waits covers, 'Anywhere I Lay My Head'.''

I don't know if its true or not,but I definitely hope so!

I love David Bowie, I think I could say that he was my link to progressive music actually. I wanted more music which sounded like anything I hadnt heard before. My favourites must be Ziggy, Scary Monsters and Sattion to Station.
The long inactivity may depend on  a need for a break to take care of the personal life, maybe? Good to hear about new material I must say

Wow, no new studio material since 2003.  Hell of a discography so far.

My faves chronologically, and I haven't heard everything:
Low
Heroes
Lodger
Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) [of course] LOL
1. Outside [aren't we overdue for 2. and 3.?]
Earthling
Heathen
Reality
