Do we really need another Hawwind compilation? What do you think Hawkwise, is this a worthwhile release?

The most "anthologized" rock bandThey have more anthologies than actual studio albums ! I think the last hawkwind compilation I bought was Anthology Vol.2 because some of the tracks were on albums I couldn't find at the time including the version of Ghost Dance which appaears here. At this point I think these anthologies just overlap too much and can be confusing for someone looking to get into them, not to mention the millions of lineup changes and the varying quality. Same goes for their live albums. How many versions of Silver Machine do we need? Seriously. If I had the time I could go through their whole anthology catologue and probably whittle it down to about 4 Hawkwind albums that you'll ever need. Also there's the licencing problem which precludes a truly complete overview but this seems to be solved to a certain extent judging by this "new" package. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I just checked a ( favourable ) review I wrote for Vol. 2 and that pretty much sums it up. It's one of the few Hawkwind anthologies that I would actually recommend.

Yes i agree instead of yet another anthology they should consecrate on re issuing some the rarer albums by the Hawks such as Love In Space , Electric Tepee etc etc, but saying that i would say this Anthology looks a well put together and it is from 76 to 84 most Anthology's usually deal with the Hawks early period, so if your someone who not been a big Hawkwind collector this looks like it would be a good place to start as to me, think i will still buy it because there still a few tracks i don't have, but then i am a Hawkwind obsessive

I used to buy Hawkwind compilations just to get the atwork. I bought Roadhawks for the poster. Not a great poster but just had to have it at the time.

The catalogue is all being done as well including all those above mentioned albums. Retail in particular asked us for the 2 compilations 1976-1984 and 1985-1997 to kick start the catalogue campaign
