Hello everybody,

I'm a long-time lurker on this site/forums and now making my first post. Being a great fan of High Tide (discovered thanks to this site Smile) i recently wondered about the exact lyrics of HT's song "Saneonymous". This is what I hear (with some blanks where i couldn't make out the text):

the gravity of the wish
that centers 'round a lie
that imitates a smile
and condescends to give
and wishes it could live
the judge -----
that killed a singing bird
that comes and goes at will
and prays and prays until
the game of desperation
control for situation
smile when you say
you've reached me again
smile when you say
you've reached me again

----- have been -----
brings me to your side
can't you understand
i can't -----
and so i turn aside
in voidness [i'll have pride (?)]
the door of my house is open
and that remorse shall be
the only thing forbidden
is what you cannnot see
and that shall not be me
smile when you say
you've reached me again
smile when you say
you've reached me again

Opinions about the blanks (or the lyrics in general) are welcomed.

I never found any lyrics of High Tide on the internet. Did anyone by any chance come over a website were lyrics of High Tide (especially of the 1st & 2nd album) can be found?

Thanks for any help! Thumbs%20Up

will copy paste your lyrics and bold my differences

ok this is what i'm getting, with some work still to be done:

the gravity of the wish
that centers 'round a lie
that imitates a smile
and condescends to give
and wishes it could live
the judgement in the love
that killed a singing bird
that comes and goes at will
and prays and plays until
the game of desperation
control the situation
smile when you say
you've reached me again
smile when you say
you've reached me again

?Ort? a happy sound
brings me to your side
can't you understand
i can't make it end
and so i turn aside
in voidness I have cried
the door of my house is open
and that remorse shall be
the only thing forbidden
is what you cannnot see
and that shall not be me
smile when you say
you've reached me again
smile when you say
you've reached me again

some of those lines are really tough

Thanks to both of you for your help! Thumbs Up

After hearing the two sections again, I agree with your suggestions, well heard! I agree, some lines are tough, especially if you have already set your mind to the words you think you heard - you will hear them again...

I plan to make a T-Shirt with one strophe on each side, so I can finally get this project on the way. Smile

Divine, seriously i have heard long back about this group, some of my friends were discussing it. i think this is early 70's band. i searched for the lyrics, but didnt get very encouraging results. can you tell a place where i can buy this particular track ('Saneonymous' ) coz it really sounded great!

Keeping a good attitude is like Kudzu- It grows!

Hi,

It's been a long time and I have to go back and listen to this again. At the time I was not impressed and thought the best thing in the band was Simon House, who of course, went on to make Hawkwind even more memorable.

What I thought I remembered was that the singer in this band, wanted to sound like Jim Morrison (many people then wanted to do just that), and I thought ... nahhhh .... that Patti Smith (Radio Ethiopia) was much better! There were many folks singing that were trying to bring about the Jim Morrison mojo, and not succeeding much. The wording in the songs were not that strong, and like many people, they mis-interpreted the movie like motion and continuous vision of the wording in the majority of The Doors material, to the point of just changing things for the sake of doing so. And that made it quite second rate lyrics in my book.

Again, I just have to listen to this again ... so these words are out of memory more than anything else.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Hi, I'm an italian user very addicted to prog music.

I thank Divine and manofmystery for Saneonymous lyrics, the only lyrics of High Tide that can we found on the internet. My passion leads me to insert on "Lyrics Wikia" a lot of lyrics about "obscure italian band", and I'm trying doing this with english groups but, really, I'm italian so I'm having a lot of trouble with these lyrics.

I'd never tried to "transcribe" High Tide lyrics because they're very criptic and the sound quality isn't very good. I'm doing this work with the first album of Gracious!, but "Hell" and "The Dream" are too complicated for me, so I left a lot of blank spaces.

If you want to collaborate with me filling lyrics of these obscure bands, you're welcome, lyrics wikia is open for everyone as every wiki project, so it's very easy to insert lyrics :)

I've created pages for groups like Gracious!, High Tide and Sir Lord Baltimore, and I'm planning to working for Morgan (band with Tim Staffell), Delivery and others.
