One of the most innovative jazz/fusion Italian progressive rock groups against one of the most well-known, representative, bombastic acts of the 1970s prog scene. Which will continue on to the Final Four? Vote to decide!

Overall it has to be AREA. ELP's debut is a personal favourite, but AREA's discography is much stronger in my opinion.

Area tends to be a bit too noisy for my tastes.  Besides, Tarkus is a masterpiece, and I find it hard to think of a respectable prog collection without it.  But that's just one fellow's opinion...

I guess I'll have to go for ELP here. Love the debut, but the other albums never top it. Only Brain Salad Surgery comes close. And they say it's one of those important bands as well Wink

I'm not deep into Area, but they are good as far as I've heard them. Still I don't want them to take the lead on the makers of 'Emerson, Lake & Palmer' and 'Brain Salad Surgery', so I have decided what to vote.

I respect ELP, and I love "Karn Evil 9," but I really don't like their other songs. Maybe another attempt is due, but for all of the attempts I've already given them, I get the feeling it won't work. Area I also respect, but I enjoy two of their albums very much: "Arbeit Macht Frei" and "Crac!" (especially the former). They manage to be creative, goofy, melodic and emotive on those albums. So they're getting my vote.

Area get this - I never really rated ELP after hearing Trace do the classically inspired stuff so much better.

Area ( 9 votes ) , E.L.P  ( 8 votes ) //  i simply hate that to happen , so my vote follows my best blues - rock song (  nine by nine ) for the John Dummer blues band . give it a shot when you can spare 5 minutes and you're in good mood (  and by the way ,  only this song from the album ) must be listed as a progressive related song .  Area are simply Great , and E.L.P are the giants of Prog of all times , but i felt it's a nice and fair equation i'm using to vote now in this poll .

I highly respect Area. ELP probably fits my taste best, and is the overall more significant band (no matter if you call Area's efforts groundbreaking, yet ELP rose to fame as they are today one of the representative groups for progressive rock). So, ELP get my vote.
