How isn't this infamous band in PA??? Cacophony has a LOT of classical and progressive elements to them. They'd fit under Prog Metal or tech/extreme or something. It's Marty Friedman and Jason Becker's project. It's very neoclassical and technical. Just listen to Speed Metal Symphony.

Oh man, I've been a fan of them for years.
Marty Friedman and Jason Becker are two of the guys that inspire me not to give up playing guitar.
And hell, whenever I see a thread about them over at my favorite guitar and metal forums, I love to jump at the chance to discuss them.

But honestly, the band is well known enough that if they had the prog credentials, they would have been added by now, and I don't think this is the first time they have been suggested.
I can understand somewhat why you suggested them, but I feel, not enough of their songs really stretch out to prog metal.

I mean, sure, we have ultra crazy pieces like Speed Metal Symphony......... but there isn't enough of those kind really stretched out, complex pieces.

They were freaking amazing man (well, the vocals left a lot to be desired sometimes thoughLOL) and do everything you can to promote them over at other forum boards, but I don't see them as having much chance of getting in here on the database.

Ahhh, makes sense.

Well, I'll be honest, even if the PMT does take them to the genre charts, it will be a no vote from me anyway.
To me, they are speed/neoclassical/thrash metal and certainly I think they were one of the best in the business playing that style of music in the 80s, but their prog credentials are questionable.

And hell, even if they don't make it here to PA (which I doubt they will), at the end of the day they were still an amazing band, prog or not.

Big smileLOLLOL. So someone finally did bring up Cacophony Harry. Well I think your explanation as to why you would give a no vote is valid but I think you should add it to the prog metal section on ProgFreak and let the other 4 team members decide as well.

And by the way Iīm sorry I havenīt answered the Necrophagist thread since your last post. I respect your opinions about them not being fit for this forum, I was just a bit annoyed with the fact that I had used so much time on that thread discussing with Cert to find out in the end that he hadnīt even bothered to listen to the album in questionConfused and that his primary goal for the discussion was that that he didnīt find any death metal bands to be progressive. As I see it I was talking about one album and he was talking about a whole genre. Well discussion is closed on that one. At least Iīm not going to use more energy on that threadSmile.
