Does anyone else find Laughing Stock and In the Aeroplane Over the Sea similar? Are they similar? Different genres, different countries, different decades, different blah blah blah, but I think they're deeply connected somehow. By the way, both are weird/experimental classics.

I did some Googling with "Mark Hollis and Jeff Mangum" and found this: ".... that Jeff is currently recording with Mark Hollis on a 'deaf' record."Clap

really?  thats interesting i never heard Neural Mik Hotel but always kinda lumped em in with Olivia Tremor Control and all those Brian Wilson-Smile types.  ok i must go have a listen then i am quite intrigued.......

I don't see much in common between Laughing Stock and In the Aeroplane besides the fact that they're both great albums. In the Aeroplane over the Sea just might be my favorite non-prog album of all time.

That is so exciting! I'm also really glad to see that Jeff is out of hiding again.
 
I don't hear much between the two albums. Laughing stock is a super experimental pre-post-rock album, while in the aeroplane is an indie alternative folky album with some super good lyrics.
 
Love both albums though.
