Slyfox is a new favorite brewery. Love pretty much everything they do, their Helles was an outstanding summer beer.

yeah... that one is a damn good one. The 7-11 across the street has been carrying it...and I've made it my go to home brew  The manager must stock it just for me, normally they rotate their craft brew stock fairly regularly.

Trying a Louisiana brew today called Arbita TurboDog....it's a pretty flavorful English brown that blows Newcastle out of the water....a bit carbonated for my taste but I'll put up with it.
Anyone else prefer low carbonation? Or do you like lots of carbonation?

^ Have not heard of that beer Jim, will look for it to give it a try. I prefer the lower carbonated stuff also, really love the dark beers.
As mentioned previously, the beers like Heineken or Molson Golden give me a headache, rarely touch those anymore.

Interesting that in this very small sample of people there are 3 people who get headaches from light colored beers but have little problem with darks. Oh well, having to drink dark beer is not such a bad thing

I get a headache only if I drink too much beer..... ....color doesn't matter.
My favorite beer the last 2 months.....

Abita is a classic and great brewer.. even if they.. like many of the great regional brewers we used to have .. have been swallowed up by the mega-congramerates. Abita's Lousiana Spiced Ale ranks in my top 5 American beers... it is a trip to New Orleans in a bottle. It is a party in your mouth.. yet without feeling too kinky...

Founders is a really solid all around brewer. However I've never like a "fruity/berry" beer yet so I'm a bit hesitant on that one.

ever tried a a Belgian framboise lambic Jim? I've met very few that have and didn't like. That Founders is the closest American beer I've found to those. It is good... really good. In fact.. just opened my 2nd.

try it if you get a chance Jim..either one actually. Both have the Mick seal of approval. In the authentic and American knock off categories. unlike this disappointing choice of mine today....  I have 5 left in the fridge... first here helps me choke them down!

Mick, the one Founders you need to try, if you haven't, is called "Dirty b*****d." It's a Scotch Ale that curled my effin' toes. Best to let it warm a bit though.

Anybody read "Beer Advocate" reviews? The only thing as fun as reading music reviews is beer reviews. People can get pretty entertaining in their description of beers.

I saw those when at Total Wine when gearing up/spurging for Progday mass consumption of fatally lethal brews... since my toes were in the fetal position without choosing that... it was probably wise I passed. I'll pick that up next time (just went today in fact) we go to Total Wine. My favorite beers are the ones best served not cold. In fact this damn fru fru soda pop ale I've been nursing for 2 hours tastes slightly better now at room temperature. as far as beer reviews..... like music. I enjoy being surprised as much as I enjoy being disappointed. Tastes are so damn individual to ever really have someone else guide
what I may or may not like. You only find out by trying it out yourself! Though I'd agree.. I find music reviews more entertainment than informational. I bet beer reviews would be in the same boat.
