As tgm;orb has suggested , the album " The Machine that Cried " by STRING DRIVEN THING features Graham Smith playing some absorbing violin . Although a few of the songs are a touch commercial, the longer tunes in particular are just excellent with amazing GS solos. Well worth exploring, but I don't know much about their other releases .
Looking still the same after all these years...

Well, there you have it . What a compilation !

I thought I'd found a player and a band who didn't appear on the list . The band does, but the player doesn't. It's the very promising OAKSENHAM from Armenia . Koryun Bobikyan is credited with playing violin on their interesting album " Conquest of the Pacific " which is also worth a listen. Dick's list has the drummer identified as the violinist which was why I couldn't find them . A small matter - the band is well worth a listen.

I remeber reading that they did bring him into record something for Wish You Were Here, but in the end was mixed so low that no one can hear him.

Systems Theory has violin and/or viola on all our albums.

The original demos set: all violin/viola by Greg Amov.

"Soundtracks For Imaginary Movies": Greg Amov -- fuzz viola on "Green Miata Baja Bound", miked acoustic viola on "A Lifeboat, Tallulah And Me". Cyndee Lee Rule -- electric violin on "The Cool Vibe Of Asia C" and "Zero Sum Equation".

"Codetalkers": Cyndee Lee Rule -- wah electric violin on "No Deli In Delhi", electric violin on "Berlin Night Express".

On the upcoming "overfulnoisecascade": Greg Amov, Cyndee Lee Rule and Rachel Amov all make an appearance.  Since we haven't yet fully decided on the track order (gotta reduce 110 mins of completed tunes to < 80) I won't say who plays what and where.

That's interesting - I gave a couple of listens to this album this month and I can't remember any violin, but only the rich, melancholic overall sound. I guess the music is good that it doesn't leave place for anything else.
