Topic: It is Offical Proto-Kaw disbands Posted: December 06 2008 at 15:02 |
From an email from Kerry Livgren
New item:
Proto-Kaw has disbanded. What a great and fun band to have played in. We didn't "break up" as such, things just sort of lapsed for us. No bookings, label troubles, and lots of other personal circumstances contributed. Our unfinished album will eventually surface as a solo project by myself, featuring members of Proto-Kaw and other guest musicians and vocalists.

Really is a shame. I thought the band really hit their stride with The Wait Of Glory.
I hope Kerry doesn't stay dormant for too long. Actually, I think it would be cool if he and Elefante worked together again.

Actually Kerry just finished re-recording Prime Mover again:
That is his own stab at the artwork. Not bad for his first time. A freind of miune who talked to Kerry aright after this email said Kerry was looking for singers to help finsish this. I think he wants more than one to give it more of a solo project feel.
He doesn't sit still so I would look for the material form the defunct P~K project to be released next year.
BTW Kerry has his own label. His comment I think referred to their dissatisfaction with Inside Out. This release was scheduled to be Kerry's label anyway.

Kerry is a very active man in any of his varied pursuits, music included, of course. It is a pity that the PROTO-KAW vibe had to end, but hopefully, the now Livgren solo album will provide some great PROTO-KAW great material as a farewell gift for prog rock lovers all over the globe. Definitely, I think he should keep himself close to the keyboardist and the sax/flute player, the two musicians who were the most explicitly involved in the band's jamming passages. Kudos to Lynn for his excellent vocal deliveries, as well.
It's been great, guys - at least, in this 2000's rebirth you got some of the worldwide acclaim you so much deserved already in the early days.
Kind regards.
