Topic: Roger Glover Posted: December 09 2008 at 12:02 |
OK, Jon Lord is here, Gillan is under discussion. It seems it's time to remember good old Glover.
His 1978 album "Elements" is pure symphonic rock.
Excellent "Butterfly Ball" has its prog moments too.
IMO Roger Glover deserves to be included at least in prog-related section.

I haven't heard that album, so I don't have an opinion there. However, that would lead to the question to what to do with this album, if anything.

I heard Butterfly Ball, it's interesting and it could be discussed for Prog-Related, and if you're saying that that album is "pure symphonic rock" then his inclusion would be obvious for Related I suppose.
Scott how is that? I've saw it in CD stores, but never bought it. I heard from that Via Miami on their Concerto(the new one).

What we are doing with Yes "90125" or "Big Generator"? Right - place it in discography.
Seriously, the main reason for including Roger Glover is "Elements". I think Purple fans should know this album, though it contains music you can hardly expect from Deep Purple bassist. If necessary, I can send mp3 samples to collaborators responsible for the decision.

But who from collaborators needs samples?

I have The Butterfly Ball, and agree about the presence of prog elements. When my shipment finally arrives from Italy, Micky and I will give it a thorough listen, and see if it is suitable for Xover. In any case, he can always be moved later, if another subgenre accepts him.

Ok. I posted a link to this thread in the Symphonic Team's thread in the collabs zone. Now let's wait for their response.
