Phil, Mike is OK with you doing it if you want, otherwise he'll take care of it.

I've posted about this band in the ZART thread and hopefully the team can decide if they want to "claim" them or not. Incidentally, Gutbucket's latest release was on Cuneiform (and I just ordered it from Wayside), and their other albums can be found on emusic. Rest assured, they will be here on ProgArchives, and deservedly so - I listened to their myspace again tonight and they are fantastic!

Henry Cow is eclectic. Henry Cow plus distortion box even more-so. I'm definitely not opposed to having the band in Avant if they want it -- it most certainly has merit.

I'll mention again that I think Gutbucket belongs in Avant- as I've said, they're Henry Cow with a distortion box.

Although the band has been accepted for Eclectic, so it can be placed there, Avant, also, is considering it (and there has been expressed support for it in Avant). Personally, I thought it better suited to Eclectic, but of course it has avant qualities/ similarities to avant bands. It could be moved later if you want it added quickly, Phil, but otherwise it could be prepared for Eclectic now. Phil, it being your suggestion, did you want to prepare the addition (we could then add it for you giving you full-credit)? Otherwise, someone else would prepare the addition. Would you rather wait until all the teams' votes are in since Eclectic was your third choice? It'll be great to see this band in the archives, and will find its way in no matter the resolution. Good suggestion.

I have voted yes for Gutbucket in Eclectic -- good band. It's cleared for Eclectic take-off.

They bring up memories of "Happy Family" for me - would the ZART team shoot me if I suggested to eval them for Zeuhl?

Will check this on or after Boxing Day. Mentioning it to Eclectic and adding it to the chart.
EDIT: having a listen now anyway, and definitely liking this. Edited by Logan - December 24 2008 at 14:56 |

They would certainly fit there.
My thinking is though, on the two albums I have, there is somewhat of a jazz basis (however b*****dized it may be) that is consistant throughout their music. However, it does seem like it is become less prominent the more albums they produce...at least according to the samples I've heard of their newest (which I plan to order soon). (And I'm not sure how important it is but they seem to consider themselves somesort of jazz/fusion band it would seem)
I would certainly not complain if they are put in eclectic however.

To be honest, Phil, I think Eclectic might be best way to go here. What do you think?
Really cool band, BTW. Edited by NaturalScience - December 23 2008 at 10:16 |

Alright, what the hell. Did a search found nothing.
Excellent band that really sounds like no one else (at least that I've found). Jazz, punk, latin, rock, experimental...yep...they've got it. Not to mention fun! And what chops. No idea where'd they go. They cross many boundries. I would start with jazz/fusion or Avant, and if they fail then perhaps Eclectic.
