Alright folks. I need some good bands to listen to. So, if you're awesome, you'd help me out X)

I consider myself a big prog rock fan- I don't know that many prog bands besides Rush, Kansas [they're prog, right? I don't listen to them much lol], Yes, Dream Theater, and Pain of Salvation.....but hey! I'm only 15. A kid's gotta whole life to live to find out all that shizz, ya know? Haha ^_~

So yeah. I've actually checked out quite a few bands myself- Nightwish, Ayreon, Symphony X, Sieges Even, Redemption- all of which I don't reaaaalllly like. Or at least, I didn't like them at the time. I tend to forget that prog rock grows on me overtime.

But. Yesh. What amazing band out there is as awesomerific as DT or Rush?? lol

Until about a year ago I had a feature at PF (link in the sig) which could come in handy here. If you give me some time, I can get it up and running again - it means that if you rate some albums at PF, the system can find users with similar taste and give you recommendations based on their ratings. Let me know if you're interested!

It might seem obvious, but Porcupine Tree seems like the right band for you.
Also, try Spock's Beard/Neal Morse and Riverside

Hella Tightttt? Confused What the?! Just looked it up on Urban Dictionary and I'm still Nun The Wiser (yeah, I looked-up shizz while I was there too, just to confirm what I had previously surmised.... ho-hum, give it time, I'm sure it will catch on here eventually...). I was already feeling old when I stumbled out of bed today, thanks for that.Ouch

Anyway, that aside - if you like DT & PoS but don't care for Ayreon or Sieges Even then I guess Prog Metal isn't your thing (Nightwish and Symphony X are more progressive Symphonic Power Metal), then I suggest you jump in at the deep end and try something a little more extreme like Opeth (but you may have to work on that a little) or Arcturus (you may have to work a bit harder there) ... failing that, head off to Heavy Prog and see if anything there takes your interest... perhaps The Mars Volta and Porcupine Tree.

What?

Stop talking like that this is not god damn AIM or even GameFAQs.

Off the "beaten path", but you might like 65daysofstatic, Frank Zappa, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Mogwai, and Taal. More people should be talking about Taal.

I'll second everything said directly above me, but especially Taal given your tastes. Certainly should appeal to Rush fans.

I agree. Taal is the way to go. There should be more threads on Taal.

I consider interest of bands vary from person to person...
Maybe you'll find your favourite bands in opinions of PA members or PA playlist. Wink

Yet I'm learning more and more about progressive rock on here. Thumbs Up

Thanks all PA members. Clap
