i'm with you on this. especially the death part. religion's origin is partly due to humanity's crippling fear of death. as far as using the bible, i think artists use it because it is familiar symbolism in the west. btw-i do enjoy a pale ale once in a while too! goes well with a 25 min. prog epic

Really? "Eyes of the World" is one of my top three from that release (both discs), for me, it's up there with "Just this Once" and "Stardust We Are". I love the Emerson -esque intro and have always thought that the chorus was one of the best ever penned by Mr. Stolt, so much emotion in it.

Aye - I did say it has it's moments - but for me it's a bit disjointed - and thought it's good I much prefer all the later tracks - I hadn't played that CD for a few years...so I was taken aback by the quality!!!

Hasse Froberg was still a full time airport employee, so he couldn't make it to the shows, and was limited in what he could he contribute to the albums. I think Stardust was the first album he had a major role on.

Well, it was the first album he was an actual band member on, and not just a guest. Of course, the only album he doesn't sing on at all is World Of Adventures. I'm not sure of the details, but I guess he was a bit shy about being a second guitarist in the band and Roine convinced him to do it from the Stardust album on....though he doesn't play guitar on any of the albums before Paradox Hotel. I assume his job and personal life kept him from touring early on, though not being an official member probably had something to do with it as well. |

I don't know what "Magic Pie" is about, but it's making me tear up. It could be attributed to me missing my friend (female) who just left for a week-long vacation. Either way, it's such a great song. That chorus.

Heh, one of my absolute least favorite FK songs. It's not terrible, of course, but I find the lyrics ridiculous (I don't really think it's "about" anything at all), and the verses terribly cheesy. The Yes-like part towards the end is the only part that I sort of like. But hey, we each have our own tastes and favorites  |

I only dislike maybe 5 TFK songs in their whole discography (not counting B-sides, etc). Of course, I'm the one here who really likes Flower Power disc 2 and Adam & Eve

Well, actually, it seems there are more than a couple people that like those as well. Of course, I don't dislike them either, though both have tracks I dislike (Magic Pie, Starlight Man.......for example). So yeah, I'm with you on the very low number of songs in their catalog that I dislike. |

Well Disc II of "Stardust we Are" (Excepting the Title track obviously - as this is one of the best prog rock tracks ever) is not as good as Disc I. Well not for consistency anyway.......

I don't care for "In the Wake of Evolution" much......sounds to much like all the other Kaipa from the second era of the band. However, their peak was easily Keyholder, with lots of input from Roine. As mentioned before, he co wrote a few songs and lyrics, and also wrote one track himself. The best of the "new" Kaipa for sure. The 70's stuff is a bit more mellow and subdued, but is still very good. I like to hear the very young Stolt already sounding very much like the much older version of himself.......... |

Yeah, I would recommend it. The only one that seems to be universally considered not so great is Mindrevolutions, the last one with Roine (where he had zero input). The rest are all worth a listen, at the very least. I should mention that I quite like Notes From the Past as well, just find Keyholder a better album. I also really like the 70's stuff, but can understand why some people find it a bit tame..........I think the best description of the 70's Kaipa I've heard is that they were the Swedish Camel. |

^I Love camel - Esp Moonmadness, Sad News today - Jon Lord dead - Pancreatic cancer 71. May play "Burn" later on - as it's my favourite Deep Purple track.......
Just played disc II - Flower Power, and "Magic Pie" is possibly definately one of the weakest tracks by the Flokis, chorus reminds me of "The carpenters" - in fact the CD is fairly nondescript (filler compared with CD 1) and the best track is the last 4 minute instrumental reprise of GOD themes....you could call it the bonus disc really....

Also - he says that "Suppers Ready" is the most overated prog track ever.......(Too Much Mellotron apparently?)

Yes Album, Time n word and GFTO get two stars
Relayer three stars and Fragile, CTTE 4 Four stars...
