Hmm, it's been a wile since I've last listened to it, but I don't remember finding almost any redeeming quality in it. Also, wtf, it took you more than a decade to get the album???

It's odd that I really connected to this album I suppose.
Anyway, I remember hearing the title track back when Napster was put on the internet. I downloaded several FK songs, but this was years and years ago, but I remember Retropolis standing out to me. I think I also downloaded The Judas Kiss from this album. Fantastic. I can't wait to hear their other albums. |

![]() If you read my member introduction, I stated that classical and jazz music have occupied a good chunk of my time. I became obsessed with both of these genres, but my appreciation for any music at all started with progressive rock. I'm simply rekindling some of that magic I lost and I'm loving every minute of it! There's no telling how long this will last. I go through these long phases. It's hard to explain really. But, trust me when I say that I love this music or else I wouldn't be here.

Well, it was the last album I got from them (besides BoE) in a relatively short period of time, so it may not have had a chance to sink in like other albums. Last time I listened to it, it was better than I remember. I think an album like The Rainmaker has higher highs (and a couple lower lows), whereas Retropolis feels like it's consistently good, but nothing remarkable relative to other TFK works, imo. |

Then why be on a music forum if you're not here for the music?

Oh, man, you'll need to lurk a lot more to find about that. All I can say so far is that the internet is a mysterious place.

Both Perpetuum Karma and Metanoia are superb (with the debut being great as well). Good Luck !

Hey Sidereal!
No chance it was a JB Hifi store?! Just that I've found JB's are a constant source of marked down prog bargains. They seem to sit in the heavy metal section for months, where pretty much no-one knows that they are, and then they get discounted and snapped up by prog fans like us!
Keep an eye out for the Flower Kings related album `Kaipa - In The Wake Of Evolution' - I've lost count of the amount of times I've found that one discounted to under $10. I've snapped it up every time to give to some friends who might appreciate it! |

Isn't that just beautiful? ![]() It tends to get a bit over-shadowed on the album as a whole because Space Revolver is so glorious. However, to hear it in isolation like that emphasises its' glory. Nice one! ![]() |

I am still befuddled by you Mirror Image ![]() You thought Retropolis was "fantastic" years and years ago and yet your first post on this thread stated: "Roine Stolt just turns me off completely. I'm not fond of his guitar playing and his singing just is completely not my cup of tea" Of course, I'm pleased that you seem to have since had a Flower Kings 'road to Damascus moment' but you still confuse the heck out of me ![]() |

Of these albums I have coming (in a couple of weeks ordered via Inside Out's website which was A LOT cheaper than Amazon or Ebay), which one should I listen first? I already own Retropolis and love it. I'm thinking Space Revolver or Stardust We Are.

OMG you didn't get Unfold The Future!!! It's, like, their best album!!!
Of the other ones you got, I'd say start with Space Revolver, then Banks of Eden (so you're current). Then try a double, like Flower Power. Edited by darkshade - August 05 2012 at 02:06 |

Well, opinions can change, right? I thought Retropolis was a good album so many years but I still wasn't completely onboard with The Flower Kings which is why I probably didn't buy anything of theirs until recently. I'm glad I saw the light at the end of this very long tunnel.

BoE is getting far and away the best ratings any TFK album has ever gotten on this site. My question to you folks is: is this the album you would choose to be the highest-rated? I think most of us can agree that it's a great album (I gave it five stars), but their best? I definitely don't think so.
Also, why is BoE getting such good ratings, when all the previous TFK albums were mired with poor reviews? |

Many reviewers here on Prog Archives act like a bunch snobs, especially the ones that are diehard 70s prog fans. They constantly compare everything to these 70s bands without giving the new ones much of a fighting chance to begin with. Not every reviewer shares this mentality thankfully so it's good to see TFK's Banks of Eden is getting positive reviews.

Never been able to enjoy Space Revolver. I Am The Sun is great, obviously one of their best works, but the rest of the album just leaves me not fully satisfied and sometimes a bit bored

I've always considered Space Revolver to be one of their weaker albums.
