Topic: Queensr˙che Release "American Soldier" On March 31 Posted: February 04 2009 at 23:53 |

Queensr˙che will release 'American Soldier', their twelfth studio album, on March 31st, through Atco/Rhino.
This
album consists of twelve songs that were inspired by numerous
interviews with veterans from World War II to Iraq, conducted by the
band's singer/songwriter Geoff Tate.
Tate has turned their
experiences from the front line into a musical examination of the life
of a solider and the consequences of war.
The original idea
for the album came from hearing stories from fans that are veterans, as
well as Tate's own father, who served in both Korea and Vietnam.
After
the album's release Queensr˙che will embark on an extensive spring tour
of the USA, with other world dates to follow later in 2009.
Each show will be performed in three suites with sets from 'American Soldier', 'Rage For Order' and 'Empire'.
The tour starts on April 16th at Snoqualmie Casino in Queensr˙che's home town of Seattle.
Track Listing... 01. Sliver 02. Unafraid 03. Hundred Mile Stare 04. At 30,000 ft. 05. A Dead Man's Words 06. The Killer 07. Middle Of Hell 08. If I Were King 09. Man Down! 10. Remember Me 11. Home Again 12. The Voice

To tell the truth, i have always 2 sides while listening Queensr˙che material.
Yesterday i was listening Operation: Mind crime and thinking 'yeah, it's good, but not TOO good', you know, the same with Empire, but, yeah, worth a sincere listen

I always felt that the song "Empire" was their best, and one of the best songs period. Great riff, great story for great lyrics. "they're building empires"

I am curious, being a Queensryche fan since Rage for Order. I do believe the loss of Chris de Garmo, creatively, has been a huge blow to this band. Saying that, when I saw them live on their Operation Mindcrime tour in 1990, they were absolutely awesome! No band has ever impressed me as much as these guys did on that night (and I've seen a ton of bands in my time). OM2 on the other hand, was a huge disappointment. For the brilliant memories of Rage for Order, Operation Mindcrime, and Empire, I'll give American Soldier a long, long listen.
Is the dream over? Or has it just begin?
