The first time I knew of Spock's Beard's existence was when Dream Theater mentioned "Day for Night" in their epic song Octavarium. "Day for Nightmare Cinema Show Me the Way to Get Back Home Again"

I think they suffer these days from having been IT during the 90s internet radio. And early on in my 90s prog listening, I resented them and all Neal's side projects, like Transatlantic. I wanted to hear more Hackett, for example.  But they grew on me, and their mp3s haven't been off my player in years.

Beware of Darkness has tended to be my favorite.

well I`ve still under the spell of the NM era SB. I`ve gotten the other albums but there only the albums which I`ve never been able to find what everyone here is hearing, there seem to be something missing...

Their newest album, Brief Nocturnes and Dreamless Sleep, has a couple songs that sound like Neal Morse SB and that's because he helped write those songs.

However, everything from Feel Euphoria up to and including X has a totally different feel than the stuff before it with Neal. I find it hit or miss. Certainly, there is some good stuff there. X is absolutely fantastic. It's my favorite post NM SB album

I haven't seen a lot of discussion about The Kindness of Strangers on this thread, which I think deserves some appreciation. It's not SB's best, but it stands up in its' own way. There are a lot of great tracks like "The Good Don't Last" and "Harm's Way", among others. I can't seem to get into "Flow" though; maybe I just need to listen to it more. Overall, a pretty solid album with lots of great moments. Anyone disagree?

Well, when contending with albums like V and Beware of Darkness, it doesn't have to be the best to still be good. You're right though, it could be better

Any more thoughts on the concept of Snow? For instance is disc two just a continuation on the story of disc one or something like a parallel universe. How literally can we take the events on the album; is Carrie actually a person or a could she be a representation of Snow's narcissism? Artwork seems to hint towards a crossroad: as if Snow and the listener have to choose which path to take: disc 1 or disc 2. Eventually either path leads to somewhat the same goal: 'Wind at my back'.

Anyway after intensive listening I came to the conclusion that this must really be Spock's beard masterpiece!
I've created an atmosphere where I'm friend first, boss second. Probably entertainer third.

Glad to see some love for Snow - I know it does get the odd bashing here and there probably due to the lack of epics on it. My fav albums and tracks are:

1) Snow - Wind at my back part 2 (but so many great tracks to choose from)
2) V - At the end of the day
3) Day for night - Healing colours of sound
4) The kindness to strangers - Harm's way
5) Beware of darkness - The Doorway
6) The light - The light
7) Spock's Beard - As far as the mind can see
8) X - Edge of the in-between
9) Octane - Of the beauty of it all
10) Feel Euphoria - The bottom line

Great band who have brought me hours of listening pleasure!!
