Any fans ? I tried the search button and nothing came up, however i am new and still learning my site navigation.

IMO a great progressive metal band....I have most of their discs and particulary enjoy A pleasant shade of Grey as well as their live effort Still life,

I like them a lot but haven't really been able to consider them great. I love what Jim Matheos has done with OSI to death though.

Perfect Symmetry, Parallels and Inside Out are three of my favorite progressive metal albums. The first one pretty groundbreaking while the two latter holds some of the most beautiful and emotional music Iīve ever heard ( Especially Parallels).

Yeah ,they were all outstanding efforts, i was impressed how they completely changed up their style from awken the guardian ( a great disc in its own right).

Call me crazy, but I prefer the John Arch era stuff.  The Spectre Within and Awaken the Guardian were excellent (although I admit the lyrics could be iffy at times).

i would recommend parallels, or pleasant shade of gray. You could also really enjoy the live album still life, it you want something heavier, awaken the guardian is a classic, with quite a different sound

I like this band a lot, but would give nothing over 4 stars, I think. Everything between 3-4. I have almost all the albums.

Me too, maybe they are heavy metal rather than progressive metal albums but well, I am a metal fan anyway so that was not a consideration, I liked those albums a lot more, in fact they rank among my all time favourite heavy metal albums, the later albums always came across as sounding too "friendly" to me and I have never been able to shake that feeling off, as a result never really got anywhere with them either.

Fates Warning definitely stands as one of my favorite bands, and I especially enjoy Disconnected, Perfect Symmetry and Parallels (whom I all consider as great introductions to the band as well). I would also point out that Mark Zonder is one of the most unique and creative drummers I know of, and manages to push the band even further!

Love his drumming too. His playing on Perfect Symmetry was considered very innovative at the time even though he is so clearly influenced by Neil Peart ( but who isnīt?).

I think they're possibly the most hit-and-miss band in all of prog. They have some great, great songs, but every album of theirs I've heard is 50% filler with the sole exception being The Spectre Within which truly deserves its status as a classic.

worship them...

the Arch era is ok although too Maidenish...

Mark Zonder, after Warlord disbanded, took some jazz courses and became the 'monster' he is now and thanks to him Jim Matheos managed to create those monumental albums like Perfec Symmetry and A Pleasant...

Ray Alder, along with Geoff Tate (Queensryche) are my fave prog metal singers.. very emotional and powerful...

Matheos is probably the best lyricist out there, IMHO...

didn't like X album, though...

i've watched live twice, one for Live In Athens DVD, and they were excellent...

what else can i say? one of the best prog band of the 90's....

My faves are "Spectre Within", "Awaken the Guardian", "Perfect Symmetry", "Parallels", "Inside Out", and " A Pleasant Shade of Gray" - and I think it's great that they all sounds so different from one another. And, man, what a great drummer Mark Zonder is!!! I can only imagine how "No Exit" would have sounded with him behind the drums.

I think the X album is not a bad album, but doesn't really appeal to me.

Although it's not an FW album, I really like John Arch's EP "A Twist of Fate", too. I wish he'd make a couple of more albums.
