Topic: Mogwai last three or Pelican last three Posted: March 02 2009 at 20:21 |
Here are the last three outputs for two great bands of today. Mogwai are pioneers of the post rock genre and keep releasing great album after great album. And Pelican are one of the amazing post metal bands of today and they are young still and have many more great albums to look foreword in the near future. I'm not comparing the two bands just see what set of albums you fans out there would take.

Really hard...
I'll have to go with Pelican. Mogwai has yet to release their masterpiece, while The Fire in our throats is definately a top ten for me, though City of Echoes was semi weak in comparison to the first two.
In Mogwai's slot, there isnt a weak album though...

Mogwai makes some very pretty music but nothing that for me packs any punch. Pelican can be hit or miss but when they're on they are on and it works wonderfully. Pelican for me.

I disagree regarding City of Echoes. I think it was a wonderful change of pace with a really strong set of tunes.
I keep going back and forth on whether or not Mogwai has made their masterpiece. I think Happy Songs may very well be that album, but at the same time, I think there is a tiny bit of something missing (still a 9.5/10 at worst) and Mr. Beast is pretty much equal to that one. In any case, I think the Mogwai set is slightly stronger. Both are great, of course.

I agree with Moatilliata, at fist City of Echoes was not that appealing to me but now i think it is a great album, great change for the band.

Mogwai is already overly popular and mainstream, support the underdogs Pelican.

What does that have to do with which one people like best? I'll have to go for Mogwai. One of my favourite bands at the moment.
