Pretty self-explanatory. I vote for Henry Cow and related. Incidentally, I did a poll before that highlights some of the Henry Cow related albums/projects: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=47202
Please, if you are inclined to, mention some of your favourite related projects. Edited by Logan - April 05 2009 at 12:03 |

I'll be honest, I don't know too many Genesis related projects other than solo efforts and Mike+the Mechanics, but for anyone that knows me this is obviously no contest in any way. Henry Cow by light years: we have Art Bears, News from Babel, Aksak Maboul, (ec) Nudes/Pale Nudes, Science Group, Cassiber, and all the solo efforts of Frith, Hodgkinson, Cooper, et. al., and I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting.

Yeah, there is so much fantastic music that Henry Cow members have been involved with and of course it's a very easy vote for me as i love Henry Cow and related. I was waking up still when I made this poll and wish I'd done it differently. I'll do a related kind of one. I wish I'd done Soft Machine and related rather than Genesis and related.

totally different music. Henry Cow by a very long way, but again, its a matter of musical taste

Genesis was of course a great band, but they can be overrated. In exchange Henry Cow can be underrated, but his musicianship has IMO much more deepness and relevance than Genesis. The time will show, I think.
Just hear the related: Chris Cutler, John Greaves, Tim Hodgkinson, Lindsay Cooper, Fred Frith and their projects. |

Good God, how can you prefer a decent but unexceptional band like Henry Cow to a bunch of geniuses like Genesis???
I just don't get it. Hackett alone has made more amazing music than all the members of Henry Cow put together. |

Not enormously familiar with the Cow, but Genesis have spawned two of my favourite solo artists (and I'm OK with Collins, too... a Banks album on order), and produced a number of amazing albums. Leg End was too abstract for my liking so I stopped there.

And people tend to forget about Brand X and GTR. I went with Genesis on Gabriel's body of work alone. |

Genesis related projects!
Gabriel solo, Hackett solo, Brand X, and Anthony Phillips. That some pretty solid work right there.

I could easily swap HC for Genesis in the above and ask the same thing... |

I love Genesis and related etc. but to put down Tim Hodgkinson like this, to dismiss his brilliant work, I don't get it. I won't vote though, I enjoy both and don't feel a need to choose one over the other. |
