Some of you may recall my previous (poor) attempts at astro-photography (on a budget) and the ensuing tales of woe in trying to get a Olympus OM-D E-M10 to focus when fitted to a cheap 5" reflector telescope. Well I finally cracked that only to discover that a combination of the camera mounded at the blunt end of telescope and a flimsy Meade go-to tripod mount still makes manual focusing nigh on impossible as whatever you're trying to focus bounces around (and out of) the viewing area as you adjust the focusing. Pah! So, returning to just using the camera with a telephoto lens I purchased a really cheap 1600mm lens... ...and discovered that my equally cheap camera tripod isn't that much better than the telescope tripod when it comes to manual focusing. However after a lot more playing around I did manage to snap this picture of the moon last month:  ...it's still not quite in focus but that's the raw uncropped image with zero photoshopping. Onwards and Upwards

Rule of thumb, the heavier the tripod the better. A few shots from various buildings, with two lenses across two states. Gonna be a bit picture heavy. |

Set it up...sort of. The colour panels were part of an art installation for the Murmuration festival in St. Louis. I found the two girls (singers from one of the bands) about a block away and convinced them to come back to it for my shot. The makeup was their stage makeup.
