Is this show really good to attend? Are the bands still as good as ever? I was always a big fan of Strawbs. I honestly only ever heard Pawn Hearts. Am I missing out on some great music?

Only one way to find out...

Since you always liked Strawbs anyway, here's your chance to see them.

And you get to check out a true legend in VdGG as well. If you don't like them, you can leave after a few tunes (at least you'll have seen Strawbs). If you do like 'em... well, there you go.

According to the Strawbs' web site (http://strawbsweb.co.uk/@f/f_0906mp2.htm) they are playing an acoustic gig at the Regent Theatre in Arlington on that date.  This show is also listed on Strawbs' bassist Chas Cronk's myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/chascronkmusic), but it does not yet appear on the Regent's web site, so I guess tickets have not gone on sale yet.  I saw the Strawbs for the first time at this same venue in June 2007 in their full "electric" line-up - that was a great one.  Nice place for a show, too.

Hopefully VdGG gets added to this show!

From what I understand, it is a VdGG/Strawbs show and it sounds like it's been confirmed.

Out of curiosity, how well did the Strawbs draw at the theater? Did they sell it out? (I think it seats 500)

Unfortunately, they did not sell out.  I can't really recall how many empty seats there were - I'd guess it was at least 75% full?  I was surprised at the number of people who turned out for the opening act Orpheus Reborn...

The web site for the Tralf Music Hall in Buffalo, NY (where VDGG is performing Monday, June 29) has a photo of the band, showing them as a quintet...did Hammill, Banton and Evans hire a couple of other players to fill out their line-up on tour? If so, does anyone know who they are and what instruments they're adding..?

could be a busy month for discriminating music lovers in the Buffalo area, by the way, with VDGG, Tony Levin's Stick Man group, Tortoise, Medeski Martin and Wood, Todd Rundgren, and Zappa-plays-Zappa all performing within a few weeks of each other.

Peter Hammill and company, however...top of the list. I've only Seen PH play solo, several times in San Francisco back in the PH7 / Black Box days.

well, if they indeed play as a quintet now, it is about time - Jaxon was clearly missing, and they were doing an enormous effort in order to deliver the music as a trio - but still Jaxon was missing

The followers of power trio please shoot now Smile
yet you still have time!
