We need some rain. These fires might just burn the rest of the summer. The loss of life fighting them is tragic.

The west is on fire and it has dropped out of the national news. The media is funny that way. Let there be death involved and it will headline.

Perhaps it would receive more coverage if they dropped Donald Trump amongst the burning timbers.

Yeah, I see your point, not many politicians want to roll up their sleeves and dig fire line.

Hulk Hogan says he wants to be Donald Trump's vice president. Jesse Ventura is presumably unavailable for commentary.

Real life becomes harder and harder to tell from the plot of a particularly delirious South Park episode.

I've been waiting for Trumpie to announce his new reality show:

"Dancing with the Real American Idol's Deadliest Voice and his Amazing Race for the Hell of Being the Biggest Loser in the Shark Tank."

Trust me, it's just round the corner.

I guess that if you're Donald Trump, "run for President" would actually be a realistic thing to put on your bucket list. I mean, what else is there for that man left to do at this point in his life?

Kanye West announces he wants to be president too.

My favoured candidate is still this guy:

Get long with people? Say something intelligent? Admit he probably would be where he is if it weren't for his father's money?

His entire public persona and the reason other people seem to admire Trump at all is based on the fact that he never compromises or apologizes about anything, so good luck with counting on that.

^ They admire him until he comes at them.

Though there is no way I could actually move my fingers to type anything nice about Trump and he is a blowhard who's wrong about almost everything, he is a very interesting candidate.   When you're a conservative and have no problem saying stuff like bankers' gains loopholes in the tax law should be closed and the middle-class should be helped out, at least you're thinking independently.

Trump's basically one of the national-populist conservatives that have become so popular here in Continental Europe over the last decade, perhaps as a result of them on economic issues being to the left of not just the libertarian sector of the right but also most of the mainstream left. He's basically adapting that ideology to American circumstances instead, making the result difficult to recognize since it's for the most part a quintessentially European type of conservatism.

Not to mention that to UK/US audiences, the combination of hardline nationalist moral norms with welfare state economics will probably sound vaguely fascist to a lot of people.

He's popular in Europe?   God help us all.
