I understand the sentiment and I agree that it would be more tactful to refrain from scoffing at a deceased person. But, I can likewise understand those who disapprove of Mr. Chavez's life-long efforts to promote "socialism". Some of socialist ideas may look attractive at first glance, but socialism as a way of of running the government and the economy doesn't seem to work long term.

I don't know enough about the global political achievements of Mr. Chávez, so won't comment, but I do find the second bullet point ironic: the improved medicine? So much improved that the President himself can't get cancer treatment and has to travel to the Cuba, of all places.
