Then we can solve the rest of the world's problems by dissolving friendship. We can cure cancer maybe by dissolving the father-son bond.

^Now what would actually work is dissolving the genetic bond you know. Many types of cancer have been found to be linked to heredity. So if we somehow dissolve the genetic link we might be on to something....

Equality: Government/church sanctioned marriage is not necessary for a happy life.

I agree. Nor do we need to dissolve marriage, that sound like.another top-down measure. Let people act on their own. Marriage is losing importance but good meaningulf relationships aren't.

Well I dunno about the good meaningful relationships thing, there is the Facebooking of birthdays and things like that.

But you're right, state-approved marriage is dying a natural death as we speak.

I never said that. You never limited your statement to government/church either.

You're really talking about gene selection and not dissolving a the genetic link between offspring and parent. That would lead to biological chaos.

Here's Dan Savage, anti-suicide and gay rights activist, speaking at a conference for high school journalists. He's not a big fan of the bible. The people you'll see marching out as he gets going were the Christian group in attendance, though judging by the crowd noise the majority supports him.

The controvery is whether he's taking a ballsy stand for his beliefs, or whether this anti-bullying icon is actually engaging in bullying of Christian students.

Personally, I believe the content of Savage's speech is here is spot on. The problem is his choice of the words "bullsh*t" and "pansy-assed" which are not respectable terms to be using in this context. Still, they shouldn't be walking out. They should be complaining to him and saying "Hey, you can disagree with the bible, but calling it "bullsh*t" and Christians "pansy-assed" was unprofessional and you could've put the same message across using more appropriate terms." That would be OK. Walking out makes them look scared.

Yes I know about William Wilburforce thanks, doesn't change what it says in the bible.

OH BUT THAT BIT WAS SPECIALLY WRITTEN TO BE ONLY TRUE AT A CERTAIN TIME whatever.

Epilogue: The event's organizers put salt in the wounds of the Christians by defending Savage AND saying that people who walk out instead of listening to something they don't want to hear have no business being journalists. Ouch.

Or it makes them look like people who don't want to be verbally abused and waste their time listening to his speech.

"Anti-suicide" activist? Damn I didn't know we needed one nowadays. I guess with all the advertisement for the suicide industry it was necessary to have them after all...

Overpopulation is a problem. You might want to switch to our pro-suicide camp.

I think some people would benefit from it.

I believe the market will provide a solution befitting the demand for suicide the population desires.

It did, but the government threw Kevorkian in jail.
