I like both, but I like Opeth more.

Opeth for sure. They do not have an album that is weak

I have a confession to make. I underestimated Opeth. I'm starting to like them just as much as DT, but DT still wins in my book.

DT regained a lot of their respect from me with BC&SL, but still Opeth hands down. Like JJLehto said, they have no weak albums, if not Orchid which I'm not very familiar with.

My two favourite bands in the world; and yet I think DT has the edge for me, simply because of the sheer intensity and emotion that can consumes their music, and their diversity and development as a band. Damn, Opeth ARE awesome, though.
It's a dirty organ sound. What's not to like?

I didn't want to vote because it's perfectly even and right, now. I don't think i could decide, i mean Dream Theater have become progressively worse live in my opinion whereas Opeth have just got better and better.

I love both but OPETH all the way.... Dream Theater have some weak albums, opeth have no weak albums in my opinion, also when Mikael sings cleanly it is beautiful, and far nicer than the wails of Lebrie. Ive also grown accustomed to and even start to like the growls too...

Dream Theater produced SFAM, so by default they have to win. Opeth is great as well, but Dream Theater wins on this one.

Dream Theater are an amazing band for a handful of albums, but they have some mediocre and bad albums.

Opeth on the other hand never match DT's  peak, but just have a string of amazing albums up until Watershed.

So Opeth pretty easily.
