PoS blows Symphony X out of the water. However, I will check out their 'New Mythology Suite' album, to give them another chance.

I personally find that to be an extremely overrated album. I recommend you hear The Divine Wings of Tragedy next (that's my favorite from them). |

I discovered both bands at around the same time and I really liked both of them. Remedy Lane and Be are superb albums and of course I had to track down the rest of their albums. To the same extent I thought that Odyssey and V: The New Mythology Suite were both wonderful albums, and I had to track down the rest of their discography as well. With both bands I was really pleased with what I found. Unfortunately, after discovering both bands, Pain of Salvation released Scarsick and Symphony X released Paradise Lost and I had my 2 most disappointing releases of 2007. That being said my vote goes to Pain of Salvation.

Pain of Salvation, they're on a completely different level to Symphony X.

Gee, I would, except that's one of the albums that failed to impress me. Although, I did remember enjoying 'The Accolade'. But the album on the whole just sounds like lots of neoclassical shredding to me. I may well be missing out on the essence of their music. |

Normally I'd say "no vote" because I love both of them equally ... but since SyX can use some support, I voted for them.

Pain of Salvation, easily. Of course I'm crazy about them so you'd be hard pressed to have me vote against them no matter who they were facing!

I like both, but only one band has an album in my top 5, or #1 for sure if I'm depressed.
Also, Pain of Salvation is just more original and exciting. Even Scarsick is interesting and varied, and fairly original. |

The albums I consider masterpieces... Remedy Lane+Perfect Element >V, Divine Wings, Twilight, Odyessey Quantity - 4>2 It's tough, but I voted for the underdog.

Pain Of Salvation for me. I'm a big fan of both bands, and both are very good at what they do, but PoS takes the cake.

PoS, almost always fresh, innovative and complex with some lovely melodies. I have to admit that I truly hate Scarsick but that's still nowhere near the amount of mediocre albums that Symphony X has produced.

The only comparison where it is remotely close is vocalists, and DG still wins for his superior power, versatility, and range. PoS is so much more innovative and unique, and lyric-wise PoS wins by more than a mile (I won't even bring up BE) music you can REALLY feel (I've nearly cried to Vocari Dei, Song for the Innocent, Kingdom of Loss, etc.)

The clear winner for me is Pain of Salvation
I kinda like Symphony X - I like the New Mythology Suite particularly. BUt PoS are more innovative, more creative, more progressive. In fact, they are really on a different level IMO |

PoS! I have Be and i want to hunt all their other albums.
I bought The Odyssey, and all I thought was who I could sell this CD away to? |

I just hope these guys don't screw it all with their coming album |
