VDGG or Roger Waters Smile They were both great. I'm going to see Porcupine Tree in september for their "Incident Tour", or I don' know what it's called. I'm sure it will be AMAZING! Big smile

Ça parle, ça fume,

ELP on the Welcome back my friends..... .
It doesn't get any proggier than that for me.
Massive production, hours of delay because of the whole operation, but when they finally came on it was full tilt.
Awesome.

ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE (UK 2007)

-one of the best live performance I have ever seen ! Those Japanese uncompromising artists played music full of  energy, passion and improvisation;there was a chaos and beauty, noise and melody interweaved each other. (I am not a really big fun of AMT studio albums but their live shows tend to be amazing).

TOOL  at Memorial Hall in Kansas City 2007 Warm up tour for 10,000 days - The most Intense show i have ever been to.
Rush at Sandstone Theater in KC 2008 - It was my first time seeing them live, the first song was limelight. I was amazed right away!
The Mars Volta - At the Granada in Lawrence Kansas 2003, it is a really small venue and they played almost all of De Loused Live. It was their first tour in support of De Loused also.

Yes, July 13th, summertime, outside, Roosevelt Stadium in New Jersey in 1975. Rained all day long and then cleared right around 7pm. The field was a mud fest, as Yes played for what seemed like hours, bouncing lasers across the sky and onto the buidlings of lower New York City.
Absolutely Awesome!!!
The version of Ritual that night featured one of the most maniacal Alan White Drum Solos I ever saw him perform. The man was possessed that night.

There are great moments from several (King Crimson '84 doing LTIA Pt.2; Yes '77 doing then-unreleased material; backstage at a Wakeman gig in '85 where he regaled us with hospitality & tales of debauchery past), but the overall best was booking Patrick Moraz to play at my house for the CHAT I Tour in March, 1995. He even helped set up the piano (having a look around the living room and repositioning it for better acoustics). He played for about 110 minutes (the contract called for 90 minimum), including Happy Birthday to my wife, who'd recently celebrated, and told stories about song origins, inspiration and other tidbits. Stayed to sign multiple autographs and was such a gentleman. A truly unforgettable experience.

Yes, but at least there is a lot of video footage of some of the bands, and the big advantage is that you will learn much more about music than anyone else your age!   I started to listen to ELP when I was about 16 which in turn turned me on to a lot of classical music and jazz.  You are way ahead of the game!  Clap

Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, Nearfest 2008. To be in the same room as Francesco Di Giacomo was amazing. Seriously.

It was absolutely insane. I had to have a face transplant as it was ripped clean off.

I'm going to have to go for the exact same gig, with Cynic in support, absolutely amazing! (I am. of course, assuming you are on about their performance in November and not the Defenders of the Faith tour earlier in May).

However, they certainly didnt play Bleak that day and they did play The Lotus Eater. Other than that the set list is spot on.
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

I agree progvortex, im 25 and only recently seen the light with Genesis and Yes etc, so ill never get to see them in their hayday,  a fact im GUTTED about, however, im confident that i see plenty of decent memorable prog with bands like opeth, cynic, DT etc. And if Peter Gabirel ever does a reunion tour with Genesis im there!

Six of the Best was amazing - although damp.  There are recordings but not great.  There's a TM one about)
Yes - Drama tour
ELP - Albert Hall
Pink Floyd - the Wall in 81 (i think!)

Rush '77 - A Farewell To Kings, Ambrosia opened
Pink Floyd '78 - played all of Animals/WYWH, no opener
Jethro Tull '78 - Bursting Out, UK (trio) opened
Kansas "78 - Two For The Show, Sniff 'n the Tears opened
Frank Zappa '79 - premiered Sheik Yerbouti, played most of LINY, my first experience of Bozzio and Bellew.
King Crimson '84 - played Discipline, Beat, and TOAPP, no opener

It's impossible to choose. I'm not certain on the dates either (long time ago) because Bozzio played the Zappa show, but then I saw with UK

The only live prog experience I've had was back in 2008 during Progressive Nation.  I saw the tour in Calgary, and was surprised by the band three, who opened, loved their music.  I came there primarily for Opeth but was a bit disappointed by them because of the sound quality, too much distortion, but what can you expect from a death metal band live.  One of the highlights was Dream theatre's tribute to Pink Floyd at the end of one of their songs.

I hope that more prog bands would tour Canada in the future.

It has to be when I saw Dungen at a small venue in south of  Sweden.
You could tell by the band that this was their homeground. Starting out with the opening track from their latest album, the band just took on from there. With modern-psychedelic-indie-jazz, they perfomed a gig in topclass, with extensvie jams, just playing around. One particular jam lasted almost 25 minutes, to a point where the singer (pianoplayer, flutist and guitarist) stopped the band abruptly and said
"This is enough. We should do another song."
The gig went smoothly, without any accidents. Until the last song. When the lead guitarists amplifier suddenly gave up and he went berserk, started swinging his guitar agianst the amplifier, kicking it. Just like The Who did, over 40 years ago. But, more, should i say, authentic.
All in all, a magic set.
