He's another BIG omission! 
Michael is one of the great PIONEERS of 
progressive rock. Actuallly Progressive really means 
pioneer rock! 
My favorite of his solo releases is Katzenmusik, then 
Flammende Herzen. But all of his late 70s early 80s 
releases are top notch. Chronicles is a best of 
compilation that truly is the best of Michaels solo 
career. Manuel Gottsching is in the archives, dont 
see much difference in approach here, though they 
have a very different delivery. Both are excellent and 
David Gilmour and Steve Hackett could 
have(probably did) learned something here.

	Here is a topic for those who want to discuss about the legendary music of Michael Rother, from his first albums with Neu! to Harmonia and his solo albums & collaborations with different artists. Here are a few important dates in M. Rother's career: 1971: Member of Kraftwerk for their second effort, Kraftwerk 2. Featuring Klaus Dinger, Florian Scheider, avant garde mixed with guitar sound manipulations 1971-75: the Neu! period with Klaus Dinger...three seminal albums in experimental minimalist post-rock will be recorded 1973- 76: He integrates Roedelius side project Harmonia with the drummer Mani Neumair (from Guru Guru): 3 intense ambiant late krautrock albums will be recorded 1977-78: the beginning of his solo career with two memorable minimalist guitar orientated albums Flammende Herzen & Sterntaler A few personnal impressions to open the dance: STERNTALER (1978) Michael Rother (who contributes to the contemplative and meditative side of the seminal NEU!)recorded here one of my favorite Ambiant/minimalist rock album. If you are familiar with the NEU!75 dreamy and melodic tunes as "Seeland" you will not be disappointed by this second M.R. solo album. This tranquil and floating release remains a little known classic album. (The three additional tracks recorded in 1993 are barely passable and do not fit with the rest of the album).
