inspired by the other polls where Rock bands are sett against classic composers.

both are known for mellow, harmonical and lyrrical themes.

bouth are inspired by native folk music

(and basicly just for fun sake).

I love Grieg's music: well known works like Peer Gynt Suites, the Piano Concerto, and the Holberg Suite, but also for instance for his Lyrical Pieces for piano, which are really fun to play.

Camel is in my top 5 of favourite bands, maybe even in my top 3. I love a lot of the stuff from the first fouralbums, but also the eighties period and some of his nineties stuff.

I choose Camel, because I keep playing a lot of music from the early albums, and Nude, especially. More than I play Grieg.

I wish Grieg would have used a mellotron LOL
Let's see, taking these statements one at a time: No you can't and no you can't and yes you have and no you won't.

while I enjoy several Camel albums my vote goes to Grieg
Camel doesn't have anything approaching Peer Gynt

I much prefer Edvard Grieg's singing to Latimer's who was always very plain to me. A good singer is important to me so I'm going Grieg.

What rare tapes, from the mid-XIXth century, in which Grieg sings, do you possess? Tongue

Interestingly, I like Camel out of everything progressive music, just as much as I like Grieg out of everything classical. Selectively.

It's not funny if you point out how ridiculous it is.

In all seriousness, very few (if any) rock bands, can be considered as superior to great classical composers.  What possible criteria could put Camel (and I do admire the band very much) ahead of Grieg?

Camel

Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying
