Huge fan of their Creatures album, but realize that not many people are familiar with them. Anyone who listens to them wanna show a little love? Tongue

Love the band; Looking forward to their new album due out later this year (the band members give updates on the Progressive Ears forum from time to time).

Count me in as a fan.  Creatures is a great album.  Some of their others are pretty good as well.

Very good band -- been a long time since I last listened to them.

I checked the band page and was surprised at how lowly rated this is.  I may not like "noodling" much, but I thought it worked out really well (superior jam),

Creatures is a really good album.  Count me in too.

Thumbs Up

Excellent band! I honestly investiged them for their name alone and once I read they started as a Zappa cover band I was sold.

Creatures is probably my favorite. I've also been anticipating this new album for a while. There website said summer 09...which is drawing to a close...and still no word. From the slight things I"ve read about it it sounds like it will be delicious.

From Lima, here's César Inca, another huge fan of FROGG CAFÉ. "Creatures" is my fave album by them.

       Kind regards.

Great band - check out their double live cd The Safenzee Diaries, which is great place to start.

According to the band's Facebook fan page, the new album is out "in the fall" which i spose means anytime now. Can't wait!

Yeah, I've known these guys personally before I ever heard their music.  We have hung out at a number of Nearfests together, very fun bunch of New Yorkers.  Creatures is a great album, but I'm partial to the last one myself (Fortunate Observer).  A great conceptual piece with interlocking themes and melodies (except the song Abyss Of Dissension which isn't part of the concept, as it was written by the bass player).

My understanding is they plan to have it out within the next month or two.  They are all full time music teachers and have families, so getting an album recorded is a big job in their free time.  As I understand it, it's also the most difficult material they've ever come up with, especially Frank Camiola's stuff.  I'm psyched he's back in the band, as he's the band member I am closest to personally.

I bought ' Fortunate Observer..' after reading about the band here on PA . There are some parts of that album I really enjoy and some that are ok but not necessarily outstanding . ' Abyss of Dissension ' is one of my fave tracks [ great bass line and building guitar solo in the earlier stanza ].

Haven't ventured into anything else yet but this new album sounds like it might be the go . The band definitely deserves wider recognition imo.
Looking still the same after all these years...

I can't claim to be a huge fan, but the Frogg's are definitely worth exploring.

Their 2010 release Bateless Edge may have been their best album yet.  Does anybody know what is happening with Frogg Cafe?  There are no updates on their homepage and their Facebook page appears to have been shutdown.

Haven't heard anything. I know their first album, Creatures, and Bateless Edge, but they never seem to really captivate me. I may have to revisit them some time soon.

Haven't heard Creatures.  Keep meaning to get that one.  Embarrassed  But I loved Fortunate Observer of Time and the Bateless Edge.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

I know the bass player, and basically the band is done.  The keyboardist has carpel tunnel in both hands, so can't play keys anymore (though still plays trumpet).  There has been talk of doing a different project/band with various members, but haven't heard anything beyond that.  It's possible they might do more in the future (with a different keys player, obviously), but probably just studio work (Frank, the guitarist, has tinnitus and won't do live work anymore).

Also, there is still a Facebook page, but it hasn't had an update since 2011.

I was afraid that that might be the case.  I'm sorry to hear that band members have health problems as a result of playing their music.  They are a really enjoyable band so it sounds as though we will have to keep our ears open to see if they come up with something else, even if under a different name.

Well this is a shame to read. A great band who put out a bunch of absolutely fantastic prog rock over the past decade or so. BE was tremendous, something that will hopefully be considered a classic in due time. I do hope they manage more studio recordings though, even if it is a different keyboardist involved.

But thanks for the update. It's good to hear news even if its bad news.
