Unless I'm going completely mad, I cannot see an entry for Steve Hogarth, in relation to his solo material outside of Marillion.

If I am not mad, can he be added please? I will then add the album details.

If I am going mad, then kindly feel free to tell meLOLConfused

I haven't heard his "solo" material, but are you suggesting it for Prog-Related or Neo-Prog, or Crossover.... I don't know that he's been suggested before.  Having a relation to a Prog band isn't enough to get one into the archives, and from what little I've read, his solo material was very much on the pop side. Phil Collins isn't in either.... Is it just the one studio album?

Here's the rateyourmusic page: http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/steve_hogarth
Official site: http://www.stevehogarth.com/
Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Hogarth

And the myspace: http://www.myspace.com/stevehogarth

Listening to the myspace, though I don't care for his vocals, I do like the music.  Though I don't know that I'd see it in a prog category, and PR additions require quite strenusous convincing and arguing commonly.

I wouldn't equate solo Hogarth with solo Phil at all. His Ice Cream Genius has a bit of XTC, Peter Gabriel (especially the Up album before the Up album was even released) and maybe a hint of Psychedelic Furs. To my ears, he should be in prog related or crossover.

You're right, Phil Collins solo does not sound similar to Hogarth solo.  I hadn't yet even listened to the music when I began writing the post.  Lazland seemed to be wondering why he wasn't in yet, and that comment was meant to illustrate my point about artists not being included based on being involved with other bands.  I was wondering myself about possible reasons why this was not here, although I lacked knowledge.  Having listened to the music (listened yesterday to the myspace), I agree with your impressions, and could see it in.  When I heard "I Really Like" it certainly reminded me of Gabriel's solo music.  And Prog-Related or Crossover do sound to be the possible options.  One problem with Prog-Related, though, is that, at least now, they want music that was not just influenced by Prog, and has a progginess, but really influenced it.  It seems likely that  Ice Cream Genius would have influenced Marillion to an extent, but I don't expect that it would have much particular impact on Prog.  Guess Crossover should look at it first -- I personally doubt that it's sufficiently Prog for Crossover, though it has Art Rock merits.  But of course that's just my opinion, and it's up to others to decide.

Actually, Olav and msyelf are taking a look at it in Neo.  If we decide to pass on it, we'll send it over to Xover.

Thanks all - my option, for what it is worth, would be prog related or crossover. It is certainly not neo.

Not sure about it in neo myself, although I'm familiar with his solo work and believe he should be here somewhere.  Xover may in fact be the best choice, but I dunno.  Anyone from xover know him or want to comment about his xover creds?
