I just read through the Petrucci article on this page and there was mentioned suspended animations and the liquid tension experiment. but theres no word about "an evening with JP and JR" wich is IMO petruccis (and also Rudessī) best work! on this album they were both able to show their full potential and created a masterpiece! i highly recommend this album to everyone who likes virtuosity on the piano and on the electric guitar
![]() for me it is the number one album of all times! just listen to Truth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PwyROL-EtU the two soli of petrucci are just the top of ingeniousness.. and by listening to this anyone sould tell me again that petrucci has no emotions in his play! ![]() ;) hope you enjoy it just like i do.. I like it a lot, but accept that it was a one-off live performance rather than a planned project, so the music isn't as developed as it should be and perhaps shows it's influences too close to the surface (when listening to the whole 80 minutes you get the feeling in the back of your head that you've heard some of this stuff before). In many respects I like this album over many DT albums because it feels more retrained, sure there are solos here in abundance by both players, they are more controlled, and have more passion and (yes Harry) emotion than simple techni-flash showmanship. And there is melody, which is always welcome. The only downer is the one non-live track, that abysmal, awful, dreadful, horrible retake of Flight Of The Bumble Bee should never have been commited to tape - Bite Of The Mosquito? Bum Of The Flightle Bee. |

I find this album as very pleasant listening, but have never been extremely excited about it. Just some very good easy listening.
