I suggest for inclusion an '70 french band named ACANTHE .They have only an album called "Someone Somewhere" ,originally released in 1974 and recently re-released on CD by Musea.
Album tracks list: 1 - Someone Somewhere (7'56) 2 - Objet De Cire (5'25) 3 - Meg Merrilies (7'08) 4 - Touch The Sun (6'26) 5 - Suspension (5'24) 6 - Univers Insens (4'48) 7 - Oiseau De Feu (7'05) 8 - The Old World Death (8'13) 9 - Riding Earth (5'00) Biography and sounds at : http://www.myspace.com/acanthe1 The collaborators will decide the place in PA(in case of inclusion) Prog on Edited by GentleGiant - September 11 2009 at 11:18 |

Hi GG. Thanks for the suggestion. Where on PA do you think they belong? Each team (be it symph, space, neo - although they won't be neo if they're from 1974, and so on) makes its own decisions whether it belongs in their specific subgenre. If not, it is rejected or sent to another team. We don't decide whether it belongs on PA and then choose the subgenre. So a suggested place for them would be very helpful. Cheers. |

I'm not an expert in PA subgenre classification(just a prog collector) but in their "myspace" the influences are :Pink Floyd, Ange, Genesis, King Crimson, Soft Machine, The Doors, Robin Trower, Van Der Graaf Generator, Hawkwind, Amon Duul 2 .....so eclectic /symph ? or psychedelic/space ? ...more eclectic for me

Chester, I took a quick listen. Symph or eclectic, maybe psych as a longshot.

Taking a listen now myself.
Yeah. Symph or eclectic. Leaning rather towards Symph. But what do I know. I'm just the neo guy. Edited by The Doctor - September 11 2009 at 12:09 |

This was suggested in 2008, and Eclectic did look into this before, but we were lacking information at the time: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=51835
I said then that I would've been fine with it in Eclectic (when I was on that team), but at that time needed more material and info to go on. |
