The Steve Howe Album is my favourite, just behind Beginnings.

I vote for none:) I find Steve Howe's solo album awful. The guitar work is fine as is expected from such a great guitarist, but the man does not have near the compositional skills as the other great Steve(Hackett) Sorry guys that's just my opinion:)
A GREAT YEAR FOR PROG!!!

I'm rather fond of The Grand Scheme of Things.   After that I would say maybe the Steve Howe Album or one not listed - Natural Timbre.  He was always best acoustically, and that's what Natural Timbre is.

BEGINNINGS is probably not the best Steve Howe album. Most people will tell you they hate it. There are some awfully mediocre songs on it, and some really ugly guitar solos. Not to mention the singing! Nevertheless, it's my favourite. I love "Breaking away from it all", "Pleasure stole the night" and "The Nature of the Sea". To my feeling, they're the best (the most personal) stuff Steve has ever done solo.

Put me down for other.  Natural Timbre is easily the best thing Steve has ever released.  If you only know the old stuff, you should try it.

While I prefer Hackett over Howe, I don't think Howe was worthy of that slam.  I've got a lot of those titles as well as many of the other Steve's.  They're all reasonably good.  As far as the Steve we're supposed to be talking about here, I'll go with the artificially low rated Turbulence.  I didn't get much new music in 1991, but it was one that I did and one of the brighter spots.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I voted for Steve Howe album but if some other singer have done vocals i would vote for Beginnigs.

Have not heard them all but i like a lot his collaboration with Billy Currie (ex Ultravox)on his album Transportation from 1988.

Here is an interesting observation I made recently. I picked up an album compilation by Steve Howe called 'Mothballs', and it features works from the various bands he was with in the 60's prior to joining Yes. There are three tracks on the album from the band Bodast which was a band that was showing progressive leanings and this band was Steve's jump off point to joining Yes. Well, when you listen to the last track on the album which is titled 'Nether Street'  from the band Bodast you here Steve Howe playing the guitar parts to Star Ship Trooper. Very interesting indeed. No wonder Anderson was so impressed.
